| 3118.1 | Cheek Rubber... | AIMHI::SJOHNSON |  | Thu Dec 07 1989 09:38 | 9 |
| | Last X-mas our dog (Casey) got Kitty a cheek rubber. You put in on a
    corner that your cat rubs his cheeks on. My Kitty loved it, of course
    Willy uses it as a scratching post but that's Willy for ya. A few
    friend's loved the idea and bought 1 for their cat as well. They can
    be bought at Pet Potpouri in Amherst NH for about $6 or $7 or I just
    saw them advertised in my Kleen Kitty Litter bag for about $3. Great
    gift for those who loved their cheeks rubbed.

| 3118.2 | Home made catnip toys | MICLUS::MTAG |  | Thu Dec 07 1989 11:27 | 11 |
| | Last year I made red and green catnip toys for my boys, my brother's
    cats, my mother's cat, and a friend's cats. It was hard making them
    because my cats wanted them NOW (but had to wait for Santa) and I had
    catnip all over the floor. But, it was fun and all the cats had fun
    and mine are still playing with last year's toy.

    I know catnip toys aren't unusual.. what was unusual was me actually
    making something!

|  |     MARY,

    How did you make them???????? Did you lock the kittys up while you
    were stuffing them?? Did you make them the day before Xmas???? Xmas
    day???

    I am thinking of buying a cheap child's fishing rod (without the
    hooks).

    I've heard from various people how much their cats loved them. I will
    probably have to buy three, one for each kitty....

    Have a happy holiday.

    Sandi & Thunder, Lightning, Storm and Dejavu too

| 3118.5 | put catnip on the present and then wrap it up! | ASABET::YACINO |  | Thu Dec 07 1989 13:31 | 21 |
| | how about the kitty video that was mentioned i believe from
    asabet::cunniff in an earlier note?

    i always have fun at x-mass time making presents. the best thing that
    i have found is wrapping the present but BEFORE you wrap it you cover
    it in catnip. you should see the kitties trying to open the presents..
    they actually unwrap their presents and you can get pictures and
    everything.

    i have a great picture of verne sitting in a bunch of wrapping paper
    looking like 'there is nothing left to open' and i have always wanted
    to make it a christmas card that read when you open it 'the fun isn't
    over yet, happy new years!" or something to that effect.

    just my .02 cents,

|  |     Carlajeanne - I love your card idea!!

    I think the most unique present our cats ever got was made by
    a friend of ours. She took fake fur and stuffed a ball of it
    with catnip - not so unusual you say?? Well, inside the box
    was a note that sayd:

      "The trouble with tribbles is that Gene Roddenbury never thought
       of suffing them with catnip!"

    Mao has now de-nuded them all. She sits up like a prairie dog, holds
    the tribble between her front paws and pulls the "fur" off with
    her mouth (and spits it out).
      Who knows how a cat thinks....

| | In the Current Catalog, they have a cute little box in the shape of a
    cat. You open it up & it has a couple of balls, a small package of
    catnip, a cardboard frame (to insert your favorite kitty picture) & a
    kitty sitter's pad! I thought it was a great idea because my
    mother-in-law has a new kitty, so my kitty is giving it to her (my
    husband thinks I've totally lost my mind!).

    I've seen several other things advertised in catalogs, like Potpourri
    (a catalog), too. Cats are very "trendy" right now, so there is more
    to choose from, it seems, than from a couple of years ago.

    Dusty is so easy to please, he loves the empty boxes with the tissue
    paper - he thinks we just open presents to give him the box!
    And, he seems happier with that than with some of the other silly (his
    opinion) stuffed mice & balls.

    Merry Christmas!

| | Last night I went to the pet store to see if they had kitty stockings,
    and they did. I bought two-one for each of my boys. They had unusual
    toys in them. They are shaped as an ice cream cone and it has a
    styrofoam balls on the end and it has a button, you click the
    button and the ball goes flying in the air. It is attached to
    a string. The boys love it. My fiance' and I were having a
    blast ourselves. I also love to put catnip on the present
    and wrap it! I also wrap Pounce treats and place them inside
    the paper so they can smell it and open their gifts !
    But they have to wait for Santa too!
