    Hi Folks:

Cat people are great! Here is a very heart-warming story I think
you will all enjoy. Maybe one of us can help this person out too.

By the way this is retyped without permission. The article came
from the November 28th edition of The Cape Codder newspaper which
    is published in Orleans, Massachusetts.

      Here Goes...

I have a human interest story that I think can benefit your paper,
    and maybe help me out.

I work nights for a major hotel in Hyannis. Two weeks ago, I
came upon a kitten underneath one of our dumpsters. it appeared
to be injured, I thought maybe hit by a car. I finally coaxed her
out and noticed that her flea collar had gotten stuck under her
front leg. It was so tight I had to cut it off, she was unable
to swallow and therefore was severly starved - just skin and bone.
The collar had been in that position for maybe a month or more
because it was embedded in her flesh, leaving a deep gash when I
got it off. My partner Joe and I wrapped her in a towel and brought
her into our office. We fed her as much as she could eat-not having
swallowed in so long. The poor thing was so skinny she was shivering
and had trouble even standing up. She was so happy to see us and
she purred for us, every time we checked her that night.

The following morning I took her home until my vet's office opened.
My mom greeted me at the door, and noticing the box she said "If
it's alive, you'd better take it somewhere else." (She knows me
well). I brought her in and showed her, she was horrified and
suprised the kitten had survived at all.

A short time later, I arrived at Hyannis Animal Hospital and Dr.
Larry Venezia took a look at her and told me what kind of treatment
she would need. He asked me if I intented to keep her, and I said
that I couldn't because we already have three cats and four dogs
in my house, but I would find her a good home. he then offered
    to pay half her bill.

Three days later, I picked her up and brought her home to
recuperate. She had 14 stiches from neck to under her leg. They
told me she purred through the whole thing! She deserves so much
to live. She has touched everyone's heart who meets her.

I have followed the classified ads and haven't seen any lost
ads in her description. I believe she has been abandoned and now
she needs a good home. She's about four to five months old and
    calico colored.

I know there are a lot of animal lovers out there who read your
paper and if you print her story, maybe someone will adopt her.
Her treatment cost me $100 and I think she was worth it! She's
free to the right person. I would again like to thank Dr. Venezia
for his kindness and generosity, and I thank you for your time!

                                            Wendy Cubberly
                                            Brewster, Massachusetts

    P.S. "Skinny" thanks you too!

| I called directory assistance to try to find out if she found a home
for the little girl. There was no phone # listed. I will try the
Hyannis Animal Hospital also. I would definitely consider her as an
    adoption as I am looking.

    Thanks in advance.

| 3100.2 | FYI... | AIMHI::SJOHNSON | Fri Dec 01 1989 16:22 | 6 | |
| I called the Hyannis Animal Hospital. Apparently they have had several
requests for the kitten. They took my name, address & phone # to
    forward onto the temporary owner.

    FYI for those interested.

| Hi,

If you don't have luck with the hospital - why don't you try the
    Cape Codder paper too.

    Regards,

| 3100.4 | Another abandoned kitty. | CRUISE::NDC | DTN: 297-2313 | Mon Dec 04 1989 13:39 | 18 |
| This reminds me of a cat I saw at the Haverhill show this weekend.
She is being cared for by Kitty Angels and I can't stop thinking
    about her.

I don't even know if she has a name. She's a medium length, black
haired girl. She has four double paws. She was found starving
to death, obviously abandoned, cut up and abused. SHe is missing
hair on her tummy and back legs. She's weak but still, quite
beautiful. She spent the weekend curled up in a cat bed on top
of one of the cages. They didn't even need a cage for her. SHe's
very very sweet and loves to be caressed around her head. Due to
her injuries she doesn't want to be touched on the back half of
    her body.

If anyone is interested in this little girl contact Joan Abbott
    at 508 649-4681 or Sandi Larson 203-875-2830

Yes, we saw that little black girl kitty, too. In fact, we
looked at her and considered her quite strongly. But, we picked Cleo
the big, brown tabby that was there that day. That little black one
though, she was real cute. She had been through a lot, but was still
sweet and docile, just lay in the sun on the table, purring. I hope
she finds a home, there were some real nice cats there, hope they
    all find homes.
