	Bandit was declawed and when they did it, they MISSED the tiny
	claw between two of his toes. This claw is common among
	double pawed cats but my vet didn't check for it. Well, Bandit
	was limping several weeks later and when I brought him to the
	vet, it turned out to be on account of that extra claw. So,
	that was removed too. I had it done under light anesthesia
	because I didn't want to traumatize him by leaving him at the
	vets again (he spends the entire time shaking when he is left
	at the vets). I took him home that day with a big bandage on
	his foot that stayed for a few days.

| 3087.2 | it can be a bit of a pain | CUPMK::TRACHMAN | Exotic Shorthairs=NO Grooming | Mon Nov 27 1989 16:20 | 15 |
| | Yes, Mary, my Ivan has this on BOTH front feet. What a pain - it's
    not too bad when he's in the mood to let me cut his toes, BUT, when
    he is in the mood - it's not too bad to snip those two toes. I
    have to be at the correct angle to get them. The truth is, that
    I really should have had the vet remove those two when he was
    neutered, but I didn't cause he had a very serious heart problem
    as a kitten and I didn't want to stress him any longer than
    necessary with the anesthesia. If you have the opportunity
    when spaying or neutering the baby, I would recommend having
    them removed (just those extra ones). I think Ivan has a total
    of either 5 or 6 toes on each front paw. Then the silly creature
    has an extra dew claw on one of his back legs! He has toes to
    spare!

| | Panther and Argus BOTH had this, and in Argus's case it was curling
    into the pad and quite painful. And of course, he wouldn't let me trim
    it. I had that middle claw removed and his purrsonality changed from
    nasty to pussycat.

|  |     I think I'll have those claws removed when she's spayed, then.  She's
    really not too nuts about having her nails clipped, so maybe it's best.
    But I love the way she walks; the extra toes sure come in handy for
    her.

| 3087.5 | Sure wish I'd have had Ivan's done then... | CUPMK::TRACHMAN | Exotic Shorthairs=NO Grooming | Tue Nov 28 1989 12:02 | 9 |
| | Yeah, I really wish I'd done that with Ivan. He clicks when he walks.
    One of the extra sets of toes is not really straight, and the more
    I think about it, makes me REALLY wish I'd done something. He doesn't
    have any problems with his feet or walking, but they just look a little
    funny. I think if he were uncomfortable, I'd know. If I'd had him
    done, I'd have had the vet take all the extra toes in front just
    leaving the four regular toes.
