| Have you tried the Lowell Humane Society on Broadway ? They usually
have lots of kitties that need homes desperately! Ask for Carol
and tell her that Elaine Trachman sent you. Quite a few of my
crew have come from shopping trips to the LHS !! Nickolas, Lara
Yurii, Mister Miyagi, Ivan - fun shopping trips. There is a vet
right next door so you can have the kittens shots done right away
and have it checked out quickly! You will also get a discount
on spay/neuter if you get the cat from the LHS and use the vet
next door.

| I call Humane Society yesterday , they had some kittens but the
cost was $25.00 for a mix and $50.00 for a pure. I knew they ask
donation but I thought 25/50 was a little high.

| Neil, when you adopt a kitten or cat from a shelter, they have already
started, if not completed, the vaccines (except rabies and leukemia),
and also have tested the cat or kitten for FeLV (Feline Leukemia
Virus which is usually fatal). A $25/$50 donation is not an
exhorbanant free by any means.
If you take a "free" kitten from someone else, your mom will still
need to take it to the vets for a health check and shots and the
cost of that will more than likely exceed the donation you make
to the shelter.

I agree with you if the LHS started the shots or completed the shots
25/50 wouldn't be high at all. After reading your reply I call LHS
back to find out if they started or had giving shots to there kitten
and they don't. They will give you 10 once you have the kitten fixed.
I got a beautiful kitten for my wife, we name her Misty and I got her
from a family in Tewksbury. With all the cats and kittens we had over
the years Misty was the most friendly cat/kitten I ever had. All the
other kitten we got from a pet store. I have had Misty for 8 years and
she still like a kitten. So I would like to find a family who has
kittens rather than get one from the pet store.

| Neil, I agree with you about not buying from a pet store! Very
wise choice!!
What facility do you work in? The Framingham Animal Humane Society
has kittens, I believe. The kittens are vaccinated, FeLV negative,
and adopted out with low-cost spay/neuter certificates. The donation
is around $30, I think.
The shelter is actually located in Southboro, about 15 minutes from
Westboro and 1/2 hour or less from Marlboro.
Also, Curt Whiteway, a Feliner who works in New Hampshire, has been
rehabilitating feral kittens and trying to place them in homes.
He gets them to the point where they are sociable and enjoy human
contact and tries to find them loving homes. I even think he has
had them vaccinated. He's a good source, if you're interested.

| I work in the NIO facility. NIO is right off RTE 93 and RTE 28 about
a mile or two away from Rockingham race track....

Dad got ma kitten yesterday, mostly all black no name yet. I
had one call and wend I call my mother to tell her the good
news that wend she told me that my father got one yesterday.
