This note is directed to Bernice who I met at the Salem show last
weekend and who found a home for the prettiest kitty I've ever
seen. Her name is Queenie and she was being offered for adoption
by the Greater Derry Humane Society.
BTW - They are a wonderful group of folks operating without a
shelter. They foster as many cats and dogs as they can. One
woman told me she has 11 cats in her mobile home! They would
be excellent candidates for the Silver Lining Memorial.
Anyway, Bernice, i don't remember your last name so I can't look
you up in ELF and I wanted to know how Queenie is making out.
Queenie, is a beautiful brown -patch tabby with the makeral (sp?)
pattern, a locket of white on her chest, GORGEOUS green eyes and
double paws. Her days were "numbered" as Greater Derry had no
home to offer her and if not adopted, she would have been returned
to her "owner" who was planning to euthanize her. I swear if
we hadn't found a home for this beauty I would have taken her.
But I'm glad we found her a home.
Thanks Bernice! Send Mail - or let everyone know how Queenie's
doing.

Nancy
I knew if I waited you would get the ball rolling :-) I don't think
I'm a good story teller, so I usually don't, but here goes.
When I went to the Salem show, I was mainly trying to convince my
hubby (Randy) that "we" want a Scottish Fold. Of course, I had
to look at the shelter kitties and found one (Queenie) that seemed
like it might work out for a salesclerk I had met at Bradlee's earlier
that week. She was looking for a cat/older kitten that was good
with kids (3+1 on the way). When the show people announced a raffle
on a cat condo, I gave Randy the money and asked that he buy me
a ticket. After looking and wanting for awhile, we left and went
home. While we were eating lunch, the phone rang. It was Nancy
DC calling to tell me I had won the cat condo, and by the way all
the shelter cats except Queenie had been adopted. I told her we
would be right over to pick up the condo (from Nashua, mind you)
and that I would call my friend. I called her and told her about
Queenie, and she said it sounded good to her, so I offered to pick
Queenie up and bring her back with me, since I was going back anyway.
Being the wonderful guy he is, Randy drove back with me and helped
me load the condo and Queenie (with toy provide by NDC) into the
car. When we dropped Queenie off at her new home (she is a GREAT
traveler, dozed most of the way), we saw two kids who thought Christmas
had come early. It was great. I haven't called yet to see how
they are doing, 'cause I wanted to wait until things had settled
down a little. When we left Queenie was hiding under a bed.

Bernice - If you ever get a picture of Queenie, I'd REALLY
appreciate a copy. She's quite a unique kitty. :-)

I called Shirley Thursday night (have been too busy to update since)
and Queenie is working out great. I doubt I will ever get a picture
since Shirley is not a good friend, but more of an acquantance.
I'm just glad I could help Queenie find a good home.
