The Montreal Gazette of 9/3/89 had a full page of articles (from the
New York Times) on cats. I will be happy to send the page to someone
who thinks they have time to type them in. Meanwhile, here are the
titles and a few tidbits:
CATS Domesticated on the outside, but wild at heart: research unravels
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
mysteries of feline behavior
----------------------------
Talks about relationships between humans and cats; clues to socializing
cats; explanations of well-noted behaviors such as kneading.
Cats can take the plunge
------------------------
Discusses "Feline Highrise Syndrome", which is cats falling from
highrise buildings. The stats are astonishing!
Purring pets are super predators
--------------------------------
The effect of domesticated cats on the ecology. Includes an
explanation of hunting behavior.

I just saw the Times articles this weekend, but they seem to be primarily
based on an article written for the August 1989 Natural History Magazine.
Anyone have access to that magazine? I've been searching the stores but
it's already been supplanted with the September issue and no one carries
back issues, it seems. Guess I'll have to try a library one of these days.
The Times articles were interesting, but I had read most of that stuff
before in a book on cat behavior I have at home; can't remember the name
of the book right now.
