when I was a kid my mom used vinegar or alcohol... I can't remember
which... to take the tar off us when we got dirty in it.

| Try cold cream (i.e. face cream). If it doesn't take it out,
it will at least soften their pads a bit. I wouldn't use anything
harsh on them. It will eventually come off by itself.

| Use anything that is oil based that's edible (cooking oil or mineral
oil). You want to try black tar on a black cat with black pads....oh
did we have fun. I even cut some of it off on the fur between the
toes. The mineral oil worked real well for us when our cat walked on
a foundation that had just been tarred.

I recently found out that it makes a good insect repellant too!!
Amazing stuff! Wonder if it gets stains out of my husband's
shirts too ;-)
