| Is your PERSIAN a show quality cat? If not I hope you will
think seriously about breeding her. I know I'm speaking for
many other FELINER's when I say that we are all very concerned
about the pet overpopulation problem. If you really want to
have kittens in the house I think adopting a pregnant cat from
a shelter is an exceptionally good idea. (Wish I could take
credit for that idea).
Whatever you decide best of luck and thanks for letting me
espress my opinion.

| Standard stud fees for my breed is the cost of a pet quality kitten,
plus a bit extra if the cat is "proven", meaning he has produced
top quality cats. So, you won't be saving any money by breeding
your cat yourself. When you consider that the cost of the stud
fee will be the same as the cost of a pet kitten, then add the cost
of vet fees for the pregnant cat, shots, room and board for the
kittens, you are actually saving money by buying a pet quality kitten
from a reputable breeding.

| you don't say where you are located, but I'd like to suggest that
you look at notes 415.432, .433, .434,.435 as they deal with a
himalayan that is up for adoption. The breeders can correct me if
I am wrong but isn't a himmy a sealpoint Persian?

great suggestion!! I hope that this noter can give a needy cat
a good home rather than resorting to breeding her other cat.

notes notifying me of free Persians...

The black persian in 415.406 seems to have a
problem with soiling the rugs...The other
cats which Deb was so nice to let me know
of have found owners...thanks

Yes, it does appear to be a rather sore subject.
Yet, your openness to the suggestions, willingness to read the other
notes with Persians available and to do something that could possibly
give an adult Persian a home that might not find one otherwise, says
a lot for you.

| there were a few kittens and adult persians in the Want ad the past few
weeks. Some were free to a good home, maybe you could try that as a
resource?

If the want ad is any reflection on the trend of the back yard
breeding, himmys and persians are the 'in' cat. Who do these people
think they are selling pet quality animals for mega bucks????
I am so glad I found this file, it has enlightened me onthe BYB
and other subjects you don't read about in 'how to care for your pet'
type books.

| I understand your frustration about the backyard breeders. Himies
always seem to big on the list of cats that are backyard bred.
I think it is because of the name recognition. If the buying public
didn't know what kind of cat it was, they wouldn't respond to the
ad.
Makes me grateful that so far, Birmans aren't popular with backyard
breeders.

re:
the black persian mentioned in note 415.406 has found
a home. She is with a friend of mine and their male
gray persian and is very happy! (thank God!)
