| 2664.1 | maybe if you get her spayed first? | IOWAIT::WILDE | Ask yourself..am I a happy cow? | Mon Jul 10 1989 19:08 | 6 |
| | Cherie - I cannot help find whiskers a home, but, if you get a
low-cost spay certificate and get her spayed, maybe it will help you
to find a home sooner? Someone was mentioning the certificates just
recently....
			Good luck!

| | re: low cost spay applications - that's me. Just send me your
mail stop and they'll be on their way.

Cherie - you'll have to be patient. It took me 2 1/2 months
to find a home for Tymothee. Adult cats are VERY hard to place
to begin with and right now is kitten season so you've got some
tough competition. I have a couple of suggestions:

    1. Have your mother put signs up at the local grocery stores.
That's how I found a home for Tym.

    2. Have someone in this area talk to Kitty Angels. 508-649-4681
They currently have no room, however, when I talked to Joan
there about Tymothee she said that they would be doing a cat
show at the end of August and I was welcome to bring Tymothee
and try to get him adopted at the show. They do seem to have
       good luck at those shows.

    3. Put an ad in your church newsletter - kitties are God's creatures
after all. My church was very helpful in that respect.

Good luck. I KNOW how tough it is right now. And when you get
to the point of calling shelters, I might be able to recommend a
    few that are no-kill shelters.

| 2664.3 | Maybe this will help... | CRUISE::NDC |  | Tue Jul 11 1989 10:10 | 15 |
| | Cherie:
I can make the following offer. If you still have the cat when
I do my next cat show, I'll take her in with me and put a sign on
the cage saying she's up for adoption. You just pay for the space.
It would also be very helpful if you provide me with some information
about her and also have her checked for FLV. Chances are anyone
adopting at a cat show will know enough to ask if she's been tested.
I am not currently signed up for a cat show but they should be
starting up again soon. I'm even going to check that one in
Connecticut at the end of August. I think its a TICA, but if I have
this added motivation I may very well start showing Dundee in TICA
    shows.
Feel free to give me a ring. DTN: 297-2313

Nancy - I'm at mailstop ZBO, but if you're located back
east maybe you could send the low-cost certificate to my mom
directly?? I'm on the west coast and it seems kinda redundant
to send it all the way out here. If you want to send it
directly to my mother, please send me mail and I'll give
    you her address.

Thanks for the cat show offer. Unfortunately I know very little
about Whiskers seeing as she's a stray. My sister and mother have
been feeding her but really haven't done anything for her
veterinarian-wise. I am paying for her spaying so now it's
just a matter of getting her to the vets.

By the way, what's the scoop on the spaying certificate? Will
any vet accept it? How much is it with the certificate?? If
it's cheap enough, maybe my mother can have her other two cats
    fixed at the same time...

    Regards,
    Cherie

| | another avenue to try - is to tell your vet that she needs to be
placed in a good home. I got two of my cats thru my vet. The
first was a stray + her kittens which were brought to his office
by one of his clients who found them (I took the mother), the other
was a Siamese who needed a home as her owner went into a nursing
home. One cat was fairly young, the other was rather old.

The vet knows his clients- i.e. who takes routine care of his/her
pets. It's worth a try. I got two wonderful cats that way.

| 2664.6 | Is Someone Going to The West Coast on Business? | RETORT::BREDA |  | Thu Jul 13 1989 13:23 | 10 |
| | Anyone going on business to the west coast?

You mentioned that you are 3000 miles away, but you would take
the kitty if you could. A suggestion would be to try and get
someone going to west coast on business to take Whiskers with them.
I've seen that kind of thing happen in this file before.

    Best of Luck!
