Hi feline Lovers, my baby Ayla as a small lump on her back. It appear
last week and I thought it was just a bug bite and it would go
away. And another thing is when I put pressure on it Ayla just
looks at me with no pain or discomfort.
P.S. I will be going to the vet next Thursday but Iwas just wondering
is anybody as a idea of what it could be.
Thank you for all info.
Christian, Ayla, Thumbs. :)

| 2539.1 | Possibly and Abcess? | MICLUS::MTAG | Mon Jun 05 1989 12:49 | 9 | |
Could it be an abcess? If so, put a hot cloth on it to bring out the
puss/junk and call the vet. She might need an antibiotic. Also,
search for scratches with scabs and (I know this sounds gross) pull
the scabs off so any infected gook can get out (so another abcess won't
form). The cat might not like this, but a vet once told me it's a good
idea to help prevent additional infectins from forming.
Good luck,
Mary

| 2539.2 | vaccination, perchance? | GLINKA::GREENE | Cat Lady | Mon Jun 05 1989 14:05 | 9 |
Did she by any chance have a vaccination there (between the
shoulder blades?) within the past couple of weeks or so?
That happened to Frosty Man, and I had to carry a note from
the vet when I was showing him (showing Frosty, not the vet!!! ;-)
in case anyone questioned me about his health. It took several
weeks to disappear entirely.

re:2
You might be onto something here, Ayla had her rabbies shot about
4 weeks ago. But maybe not, well I wont take any chances anyway
I'll take her to the vet this week.
thanks Chris :)

| 2539.4 | my cat had this too... | SUCCES::PEAKE | Thu Jun 08 1989 12:31 | 15 | |
My cat had a small lump about 3 weeks ago on her back, the size
of a pencil eraser. I took her to the Vets and all he said was
to watch it, and report any change, namely, if it got bigger.
Well, one week later, it completely disappeared. My husband
and I think it must have been a mosquito bite, or that our
other cat Pounce must have bit her. At any rate, it disappeared
much to our relief. It must have been on her for 10 days or
a little longer. I would watch and see if there are any changes.
If it gets bigger, report to the VETS.
Good luck!
