    Hello feline fanatics,
    
    My 9 month old Hercules has recently learned how to open my
    refrigerator door.  How lovely.  I have put 2 cases of tonic in
    front of the door - but they're a royal pain - and I'm concerned
    that a bungie (sp?) cord would damage the coils in back.  He opens
    the door whether I'm around or not and God forbid I forget to put
    the tonic in place before bedtime.  He snagged my leftover steak
    the other night while I was sleeping.  I think he just gets bored
    or wants attention - he's obviously intelligent - I just hope he
    doesn't start teaching the dog new things!  Any suggestions?
    
    He also is consuming one large can of kal kan per day - he's not
    fat at all! just big - does anyone know when (if) I can expect his
    appetite to calm down?

	I don't know about .0, but my cats open my fridge all the time. They just pushing with their heads until it opens. Now if I can only train them to get a can of soda without shaking it. Kathy

	Just an idea... if your refrigerator is tilted slightly forward, the door would be much easier to open. If you have an older house there is a good possiblity of this. Try putting some cardboard under the front feet of the fridge to see if this helps. Another possiblity.. you might want to consider having a refrigerator repair person come in and install a new strip of that magnetic stuff. Worse comes to worse... somehow attatch a latch hook. Karen

	as for the one large can, that seems like a bit much especially if he isn't putting on any weight. I'd be on the lookout for tape worms. Deb

	I'm not sure where you get them, or exactly what they look like, but my neighbors had a "lock" for the 'fridge, to keep their baby out of it. It was made of plastic, and attached somehow to the door, about half way up. I don't think there's any way a cat could get through it but it was easy for an adult person to use. If no one knows anything about these, I'll ask the neighbor for more info... Karen, Tristan, Tenzing and Max.

	Now I'm worried that T.C. just hasn't gotten around to the refrigerator yet. He opens everything else in the house. I'm going to have to keep him out of the notes file so he doesn't read this! 8^) Donna

	I'd be concerned about his opening the door, getting into the refrig., and then the door somehow shutting on him! Then again, if it swings open, it is probably slanted forward. Levelling it might do the trick.
