| | Oh yea, what I forgot to say, I'm glad that we didn't run the
dishwasher. He would have gotten hurt worse.

| | I have the vague recollection that dust from cutting sheetrock can
be somewhat toxic to cats. I may be completely wrong. Another
possibility is that if there was remodeling going on in the house,
he might just be freaked out.

| 2167.3 | changing the environment can spook them | THE780::WILDE | Ask yourself..am I a happy cow? | Fri Jan 20 1989 15:20 | 10 |
| | Approx. a year ago Cat Fancy ran an article about how changing a cat's
environment by adding things or taking things away can "spook" him/her
for awhile (read awhile as meaning until the cat has forgotten the
thing has been changed). The article recommended (quite unrealistically)
that you don't ever change the environment or if the cat spooks on
you, quickly change it back...although that is the ideal answer, it
simply isn't always possible. If you cannot change the environment
back the way it was, you simply give lots of love and reassurance and
the cat will gradually get back to his/her ol' self in time. This
sounds like the situation you have, so I'd give it time.

| | Put yourself in his place ..... in a tight spot, scared ..
He's bound to be spooked for awhile. He was probably
scared out of his mind. Talk lovey to him ... he should
    come around.

Keep us posted. Poor baby !!!!!!!!!

I'm sure with lots of patience and love and a little time he'll
be ok. Is he eating ok?? It may be possible that he is punishing
you for upsetting his house by doing all of the things he knows
he shouldn't. Mine have been known to do this type of stuff when
I go away for a few days but they usually get over it in a matter
of hours. If it keeps up, maybe a visit to the vet might be in
    order (but then I'm overprotective).

I know it must be possible for them to get amnesia though. Yesterday
my little Rocco must have had it because he sat on my lap for over
20 minutes before he remembered he hated to do that. ;^)

Mijo is back to normal. Thanks for all the responses... Mijo
is still afraid of strange noises and people.

But he's getting back to normal. Some new toys and a lot of
    affection has brought him around.

    Thanks again!!!!
