| Hi!
Rose knows somethings up! She'll cool her jets as soon as the drain
is removed! My queen still does this to her kitten! The kitten
is 5 years old now!
They quickly take on the role of this is my house to share with
no others! but it will pass! Just give them time!

| I try to take all my cats to the vet together. Anytime that one
has to stay overnight when the others don't, the others all act
just the same way as you have described.
It only lasts for a few days to a week. This may not stop until a
few days to a week AFTER the drain is removed.
One thing that helps sometimes is to get the scent of the vet's
office off of the cat as soon as possible. You can try rubbing a
little lemon juice on kitty's fur. You can also try rubbing a towel
all over the kitty that did not go to the vet, and then rub the
same towel all over the kitty that did go to the vet.
Don't worry -- it won't last!

| The smell of the vet to the cat that stayed home is bringing
back memories.!!!! Between the smell of anathesia, (sp) alcohol,
and other medication that poor boy has on him will take a while
for it to wear off, and it will be friends as usual.
Take heart. It won't last.
We cat people have all been through this before. (This happens in
the canine community also.)

| When you take Merlin to have the drain out, take Rose
with you - then they will both smell the same if you
ask the vet to just handle Rose.

| I just went through this last week, when Niniane went to get fixed
at the vet's and Charm stayed home. When I picked Niniane up the
following day, she reeked of medicine, antiseptic, etc. *I* thought
she stunk - Charm's nose had a field day! She hissed and spit at
the cat she had been grooming only two days ago!! This went on
for a couple of days, until Niniane had managed to wear off all
traces of vet. They're back to being pals again now, thundering
around the house wearing out the carpet.
Ah, the kids....

| Many thanks to all of you respondees. I've decided to
take both cats to the vet this afternoon. Maybe it is
the scent thing.

| Karen,
Thanks for asking. I took them both to the vet on Friday,
and had him give them each a once-over just for fun?!
When we got home they were both pretty subdued but by
Saturday morning they were up to their old antics. Un-
fortunately rose was a little rough with Merlin on Sunday
and seems to have scratched his eye. I'm treating it with
drops now. Between those and the antibiotics I have to
make him swallow he's not sure about me now. However, this
too shall pass.
