I too suffer from cat allergies and see an allergist in newbury ma.
    I currently peacefully exist with three cats two dogs and two birds.
    The treatment consists of drops under the tounge.  It might be worth
    a try.

    My lady already tried that too. I've had these cats 10 years so
    I don't take giving them away lightly. We've tried everything so
    we could keep them. This is the only avenue we have open to us.

    Oh what a sad story, you've had them for 10 years??!!  I'm not sure 
    what I'd do if I were in your shoes.   I'm getting married next 
    September and IF (but he's not) my fiance' was illergic to my 
    kids....well...I don't know.............what a decision!!
    
    Good luck with whatever happens, but I hope you find a way to keep

      My husband is allergic to "long haired" cats...that's why our
    two are short haired.  Could it be that she is allergic to one more
    than the other.  Just a thought...

    My mom was VERY allergic to cats and went through all the shots
    for allergies etc...  This didn't seem to work.  What we found
    is that she was allergic to the OUTDOOR cats, not the INDOOR. 
    I took the Outdoor cats and we got her another kitten which lives
    completely indoors.  She doesn't have any problems at all so long
    as the cat stays inside.  
    
    Could it be that its not the Cats but maybe what they roll in when
    they go outside?  Can they stay inside?  If they can't go to good
    homes, maybe there is an alternative!

    The cats were strictly indoor cats at first, that is, for 8 years.
    I had to put them outside just so she could breathe. It isn't just
    the cats either. I had a parrot that she was allergic to also. The
    parrot was already 11years old when I met her, she didn't last long
    after that. Love Birds usually don't live that long, but I was lucky
    and I took good care of her. I've tried every option and gimmick
    there is. This is my last option. I will only give the cats away
    and my girl knows that. They will stay until someone will take them.
    Doesn't make it easy...... :-(

    Wasn't there someone in this file looking for a 
    couple of declawed cats?  Maybe it was awhile ago
    ...I'm still trying to catch up in this file after
    4 months maternity leave.  Does anybody remember

    Yes, there was.  It was a friend of mine.  She finally adopted a

    It's getting down to it now. The cold weather is getting closer
    and it's going to be a real problem with the cats. I can't let them
    in the house for more than 1/2 an hour before I have to put them
    out in the garage again. This is killing me and it's not very good
    for the cats or my girlfriend. Does anyone know ANYBODY who can
    take my critters??????????????????????? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wow! I felt like people really didn't care. I guess some do. 
    The cats are living in my garage. I know it's sounds bad but it's 
    better than keeping them outdoors or taking them to the "society".
    My "lady" still plays with them and gets bumps and wheezes but hey,
    I still love the critters and so does she. I know it gets cold out
    there but what can I do?? I put out wool blankets for them to sleep
    on. They are healthy at least. I've asked anybody and everybody
    for a home for them. No luck. This is the best I can do for them
    under the circumstances. Thanks for caring!!

    I saw a product in the PETAGREE catalog I just got that is supposed
    to help with allergies.  You wipe the cats down with it once a week.

According to my doctor, this stuff has no evidence of real value and can
be detrimental if it encourages a very allergic person to attempt to
spend more time with the pet than she/he should.  I have a dear friend
who is allergic and we talked to my allergist about this product.  He
had heard of it, had even had patients that had tried it, but it was
not effective.  He still says the only hope is the shots to reduce
sensitivity (one encouraging note:  the shots are much more effective
now that they use cat dander and saliva to create the shot rather than
cat hair, which used to be used)....this doesn't mean I don't think
using the ALLERPET is worth a try - anything is worth a try.  Also,
please don't get your cats damp or wet if you have to leave them in the 
garage all the time...they don't dry well and can end up totally chilled.

    
    Well, zero hour has arrived. The week of July 2nd, I will be moving
    into my new house with my fiancee'. This means that I will either
    find a home within the next two weeks for the cats or take them
    the Humane Society here in Nashua. I have placed ads and asked everyone
    I know and people I don't know I they know of anyone who would like
    two nice critters. No luck. ANY help would be greatly appreciated

    Just a suggestion....I am allergic to animals and found that if I
    restrict where my kitty goes, I have less problems.  Like she sleeps
    in the cellar, does not go upsatirs or in the bedrooms, does not go on
    funniture, and the like.
    
    Someone in here recently mentioned a nasal spray which works (I swear
    by the Seldane and Nolex LA), has she tried these?

    	I wonder if I've just been lucky or gone through a change

    	A few years back it used to be that if I was even just in
    	a room with cat hair my nose would fill up, I'd be wheezing,
    	my eyes would water etc.  Then I started dating Cary and he
    	had Brandi.  Well when we first started dating I was miserable.
    	But after a while I built up an immunity to her.  It was great
    	because I always loved cats but could never go near them.
    	Then I realized I built up an immunity to ALL cats.  I found
    	this out when visiting Holly one day and met her furfaces.
    	I picked them up and cuddled them etc.  AND NO REACTION!!
    	So now mine and Cary's household has kitties.  And I am
    	no longer allergic to cats.  The only time I'll find it
    	acting up is when my other allergies kick in; during pollen
    	season.  Last year I took Seldane which worked great and this
    	year I tried Hismanal.  And that works great too.
    
    	Maybe I've only been lucky, but it is possible that she will
    	not always be allergic to your kitty.

    I've noticed the same thing with my animals.  My cat does not bother
    me, its other cats and animals which bother me.  My horses bother
    me, but I found that if I do all grooming outside where there is
    a breeze, my eyes don't get so bad. My allergist said it is possible
    to build up immunities, it just takes time.

    My two critters will be going to the Humane Society on Friday,
