    Oh Suzanne!  That's so funny!  Tabbatha is a Klutz every once in
    a while.  She does the same think where she will be on someone's
    lap or on the couch and roll over and fall off.  She doesn't do
    it as much as she did before, but it's still funny.  When she does
    it, she just looks at you and says, "I meant to do that!  Did you
    see how gracefully I did that?"
    
    Micki on the other hand, is the world's worst Klutz.  I think it's
    because she can't jump as far as the others.  In a motel room when
    we go to a show, she tries to jump from one bed to another and makes
    it about half way and then hangs on for dear life.  She has also
    run into her share of walls.  Like you said, Suzanne, all snooks
    has to do is duck and Micki goes crashing into the wall.  Her nose
    is getting more pushed in all the time (she's a persian).  She's
    going to have that pug look by the time she's a year old at this
    rate.

    Tristan has always been kind of klutzy too.  We've got several theories
    about it.  He's been deaf since birth, so we wonder if his balance
    could be off -- you know, inner ear problem or something.  Also,
    his previous owners let him outside where he got hit by cars twice,
    so his brains could have been scrambled by that.  Anyway...
    
    He falls off furniture like yours does.  He also falls off laps,
    shoulders, you name it, unless you catch him.  Sometimes he just
    seems to be so fast asleep that a roll over sends him off, sometimes
    he gets very excited when he's petted and starts tumbling around
    in exctasy, which tips him off.  He's actually gotten better over
    the years.  He now wakes up pretty fast when he rolls off and can
    almost always catch himself.  As to petting...we've been trained
    to catch him...;-)
    
    Another thing which makes us wonder about his balance is his jumping.
    When we got him he couldn't jump nearly as high as Tenzing could,
    and he always seemed to study the jump for ages before leaping.
    This was in direct contrast to Tenzing who could jump anything without
    thinking.  It seemed as if his balance was off and he had to gauge
    his jump purely on visual cues.  Now he can jump known distances
    fairly easily, but I'm pretty convinced that a new surface would
    get extensive study first.

    Also, Tristan loves to be held upside down.  I've never known any
    cat who liked that.  All these oddities just make him more special
    to me though -- guess I'm wierd.
    
    I've know one other klutzy cat (who was much worse than Tristan),
    and he, too, had been hit by cars several times.  He could fall
    off anything!

    Sounds just like Koko, except she has no excuses!!!!  She has never
    been hit by a car and can hear you put the can into the can opener!
    And Yes - she undershoots her jumps and hangs on for dear life!
    And if she jumps to attack a flying bug or toy - she always manages
    to bang into something else like a table or chair.  And I'll never
    forget the time when she was real little, she was sitting in the
    in the hallway and as I walked by she kept watching me, she
    turned her head all the way around to see me go past her and she
    flipped right over!
    
    I think one of the things that makes her so klutzy is that she is such
    a sound sleeper. In fact, the first week we got her she was sleeping in
    between us when my husband rolled over on her.  I pushed him off and
    picked her up.  She didn't move - I jiggled her around and sat her down
    and she just went plop over side ways - I honestly thought my husband
    had suffocated our little kitten.  So of course I start screaming "DAVE
    DAVE WAKE UP" and who starts purring as my husband wakes up! 
    
    Well glad to hear I'm not the only one with a klutzy cat!

My Greylock cant jump up to the bathroom sink without missing!
He has to go by way of the toilet (one of the many reasons we always 
keep the lid down). He also misses when jumping into 
my lap, which is quite painful because he sticks out his claws and 
holds on for dear life as he slips off...
I think his lack of coordination is made more evident because Caspar, 
my siamese, can jump to the top of the fridge from the floor if he's
in the mood to do so.

    The other day Merlin tripped on the stair step.  He was following
    me up the stairs and then all of a sudden he missed the next step.
    I don't know if his tummy got in the way or what.  He just sat down
    and started to look embarrassed  and it was all I could do not to
    laugh at him in his distress.  Poor baby; they get so embarrassed
    when they know that someone was looking when they were clumsy.

    	My kitten, Sasha, likes to chase her tail....she'll
    	be on the couch and start chasing her tail...around and
    	around, and around,...*boom* right onto the floor.
    	Then she looks around as if to say..."hey mom, what
    	happened?"
    
    	My SO dies laughing when this happens.

    Talking about chasing tails...
    
    Tiggers likes to chase is tail on the stairs.  What a riot!  He
    starts going around in circles and falls down a couple of stairs.
    He gets up and starts all over again.  He makes the cutest little
    noise while he's doing it too.
    
    I know it's mean to think this if funny but...
    
    I laugh everytime I'm playing with the cats and I through something
    into the kitchen (towards the cabinets) and they go running after
    it.  Of course, being cats it's kinda hard for them to stop and
    they go sliding right into the cabinet.  I certainly wouldn't laugh
    if they hurt themselves, but they never do.  I promise I don't do
    this intentionally!

    	I'm convinced that Sasha is part squirrel....when she's
    	happy and playing with something she makes noises like
    	a baby squirrel!!

    [I'm a proud owner of new kitten which we got Sept. 10th.  He's
    just a domestic shorthair calico (tiger kitty) named Tashti.  I
    love reading this notes file and I love the new addition to our
    little household... reading about "funny noises", I just had to
    write...]
    
    Tashti always makes little "peeping" noises... not "meows" like
    normal kittens (though he can and sometimes does).  He "peeps" and
    "squeaks" when he runs fast and when he jumps off the bed/dresser.
    It's almost like he's exerting himself and can't stop the air from
    making funny noises through his vocal chords.  At any rate, it's
    a funny thing to listen too-- it's just *so* cute 8^)
