| | I've got no experience with waterbeds so I've just got to ask.

What happens if the little dears start kneading the bed with their
claws? Do you spring a leak?

    Just curious :-)

    Sometimes, from laughing.

Seriously, aja has never caused a problem with the water bed and
it's her favorite place to sleep. The mattress is made of pretty
    tough vinyl.

| | Thanks - now I know I can safely get one - I'll take Tarot along
to the showroom to test it. If his claws can't get through it then
no cat's going to be able to bust it.

Not only is the vinyl really tough, but we bought a mattress liner
which is pretty thick. It's almost a necessity anyway, unless you
want to sleep on sheet covered vinyl - it doesn't breath, trust
me. Between the thick vinyl and a decent mattress pad, not to mention
the usual quilts and sheets -- our waterbed has been safe from two
cats and two large dogs. I wouldn't hesitate to get one if you
    like them.

| | I haven't had any problems with their lovely claws either. I also
have the mattress liner, and I think this is what has saved us from
    springing any leaks.

Whatever you do, just don't let any people sit on your bed with
    a screwdriver in their pockets.

That's they way to spring a leak.

| 1792.7 | Watch out for diggers... | HPSCAD::KNEWTON | This Space For Rent | Mon Oct 03 1988 16:40 | 8 |
| | Snuggles managed to get a claw through. He likes to dig and managed
to get his paw in between the headboard and the mattress. Luckily
it was only one little hole. It did still leak quite abit considering
the size the hole. Since the hole was on the side of the mattress
all of the water ended up between the mattress and liner. It may
have been leaking for a while before we noticed it.

| | We recently got a waterbed and haven't had any troubles...yet.
Brandy did decide he would _help_ me make the bed by climbing on
while the bed was being filled, then when I wsa trying to put each
sheet on. (Makes for a very lumpy bed). Then he had to try out
each cubby hole (it's a bookcase headboard).

Brandy has decided he _owns_ the top of the headboard. However,
he is a 15 lb. heifer and when he launches himself from the bed
to the top of the headboard and you're lying on the bed, it feels
like you'll get this nasty case of whiplash. Boing, BOING...

Our mattress is a waveless type but when you get two cats AND a
very frisky puppy on it, it's a TIDAL WAVE. Both cats seem to like
the bed more, now that the weather has cooled down. It was funny
to see the puppy trying to get on the bed when we first got him.
All he could do was put his front paws on the frame and _walk_ around
the edge (no leverage). Now he takes a flying leap, pounce, bounce,
frisk, _Get off my face!_, I think you get the picture.

If you like waterbeds, go ahead and get one. I think it will please
    the whole crowd.
