After months of trying to catch-up and then not knowing where the
Feline conference "disappeared" to (hadn't caught up to that note),
I am FINALLY introducing my family.
My name is Roslyn Reed and I presently work in Concord, MA, live
in Billerica, MA and am taken care of by two cats (Esco and Brandy),
one horse (Cheyenne), a recent addition of a puppy (Stark) and of
course my SO, Chris.
Esco, will be two in September. She is a small gray with a white
bib and toes, medium to long haired furbag. She is semi vocal.
I have no idea what type she is but she does have a "weaselly" pointed
face and a ruff and a big, bushy tail. She also has big, expressive
yellow eyes. Esco has an intelligent look in her eyes.
Now for my other furface. His name is Brandy. He's an orange/white
tiger with a white bib and belly and big, innocent orange eyes.
He's approximately the same age as Esco. I originally got him for
one of my ex-roomates some months after she lost hers to an accident.
Unfortunately her SO bred and raised mastiffs, had at least 7 that had
run of the house. After going over there the first time and being
surrounded by dogs who's heads came up to my chest, I decided Brandy
would probably die of heart failure. Lord knows I almost did, so
I kept him.
I will enter a seperate note on how each came into my life.
I admit I was not always a cat person though I do love all animals.
But I guess I was lucky to meet a few real "cool" cats before I
was adopted by my first and probably most favorite cat, Harry (a.k.a
Harrass), R.I.P. I have written about him previously. He was truly a
companion.
Actually he was almost like a dog. He'd come when called and also
answered you when called. He roll over, play dead, fetch, play
hide and seek, stay with me whenever I was sick, depressed or upset.
He like to sleep under the covers with his head on my pillow and
a paw on my face/neck. He was definitely a character and could
melt the heart of even the most cold hearted Scrooge.
I guess you could say I still miss him even after 3 years. But
my two *kids* keep life VERY happy, and exciting.
I'm glad I finally introduced us.
Roslyn, Esco and Brandy

Hi Roslyn, and welcome! Sounds like Esco might be part/all
Turkish Angora like my Fluffy. Angoras are kind of like Persians,
except without the "pushed-in" face. Does Esco meow just before
sunrise? That's supposed to be a trait of Turkish Angoras (honest!
read it in Cat Fancy and Fluffy always does this). They're also
supposed to be pretty active and "nosey".
Brandy sounds like a close twin of Loki (my Morris cat). Now
you need a third cat to be like Bigfoot (double-pawed) and your
household will be all set :-) :-) :-) :-) !!
What kind of horse is Cheyenne? Always loved horses, just
don't have the room for one (yet ;-) !).
Welcome again to Feline!
- Andrea

RE: .1
If you don't have room for a full sized horse, how about a miniature?
Along with my beloved cat friends, I share my life with four of
the minis (we had our first mini baby this year). I can't ride them,
but I can drive, show, and hug them to my hearts content!! My smallest
adult (C&S Better Mousetrap) is about 28" high.... doesn't take
up much room at all!

Andrea, I have no idea what type Esco is because I got her has a
feral kitten. However, she does talk a bit in the morning usually
around 5:30 - 6:00. I just thought she was telling me to get my
butt up and feed her. She also has "pantaloons" but they stop at
her ankles.
As far as active and nosey, that does describe her to a "T"! She
loves to *help* me put on my makeup (when I wear it), take a shower
("make sure the water is the right temperature, Mom"), water the plants
("where's all that water going to?"), make dinner ("what's in *this*
cupboard?"). Once when I was in my lean days, I accidently closed
her in the refridgerator because she was investigating the back
of the bottom shelf and never saw her go in there. Well you know
I heard about that! Esco is definitely a little busybody.
Cheyenne is a registered black and white (tobiano) pinto/mustang.
I'm his 2nd owner and we've been together for 9 years. The people
that had him before me got him through the "Adopt a Wild Mustang"
program.
The apartment we live in is in a house and it's the first time I've
ever been able to have Cheyenne there with me. It's wonderful!
The kitties like to pretend they're *wildcats* stalking us across
the backyard/field. What a riot!
Thanks for the welcome!
I'm really glad I stumbled onto this notesfile. Everyone is so
friendly, supportive, willing to share their experiences with each
other be they good and bad. It's nice to know there's a *place*
to go to meet a group of people who'll take you in, treat you like
family and know that some of these people you'll never meet face to
face. It gives me the warm fuzzies all over.
I particpate in a couple of conferences, but this is the only one
where I really feel at home. I think it just confirms what I believe,
that cat-owned people a very special people indeed. Why else would
this noble, sensitive creature indure our presence?
TTFN,
Roslyn and the kids
