| | thanks Fran! Now if I can remember which cat did what and how they
acted! i saw the play twice, the 1st time 4 years ago and then 2
years later and absolutely _loved_ it! Gee, maybe I'll have to see
it again! (is it still playing somewhere?)

You can always buy the book. It's called "Old Possum's Book of ..."
(I can't remember the rest). You'll find it in the Poetry section under
T. S. Eliot as author. I have a copy of it but it's on extended loan
to a friend of mine. The songs from "CATS" are almost exactly the
same as the original poems.

| | let's see...
Old Deuteroenmy was the old cat who decided who would go to the
    Heavyside lair.
Jemima (I don't rmemeber what she did but that's who my Jemmi is
            named after :-)
Asparagus was "Gus" the theater cat who played Growltiger.
    Griddlebone was Growltigers girlfriend.
Skimbleshanks the railway cat (that one is cute (hint hint) :-0)
Rumplteezer and her partner in crime Mungojerry were the two who
loved to tear up the house!
Mr Mistoffoles was the magical cat
Grizzabella was the old cat who sang Memories and was chosen by
old Deutoronmy to be reborn to a new jellicle life.
Bustopher Jones (who's not skin and bones) as the chubby cat who
hung around the school and was always being
                     fed.
Jennyanydots was the cat who taught the mice tatting and was a
very domeatic cat in loving to sew etc and keep
                 peace in the house.

(can you tell Iam a great fan of the book and play :-)!!)

let us know what you decide on...I think the rest of the names
    were cats fromthe chorus..

| | Thanks to you all for your input....we've made a decision (it was
a tough one!) but I think this name best describes my new kitty....

    And the winning name is.........

Bustopher Jones (who's not skin and bones)...my new little guy is
a chubby ball of fur who is _always_ hanging out in the kitchen
    looking for food.

I'm sure he's going to be delighted with his new name, he's probably
getting sick of being called kitty, kitty :-)

Macavity is the "mystery cat, who's called the hidden paw"

Had to add this, as this poem was my first exposure to the poems
of "Old Possum's Book of Practical cats"
