Has anyone out there heard about the pathetic situation down in
Puerto Rico? I know some people who have travelled there on business
and vacation and said that it is really awful. Cats and dogs are
dying of disease and starvation due to lack of money and concern
in the state. Are the humane societies in this part of the
country doing anything about this situation? Is there anything
we can do?

Yes there some stray dogs and cats but-the average (read
Non-Deccie,Non-military)family in PR is well below the poverty
level.
This is typical of most poorer countries. I am one of the most
devoted animal lovers in the world but people do count also!
Incidently some of the strays etc. have been caused by American
families on TDY who do do the old dump the pet trick-or adopt one
and than leave.
