    I have been microwaving left overs for years for both dogs
    and cats. I can not see any harm. (Just don't put the can in
    the mcirowave.!)
    

    Every once in a while, I will heat up Tabby and Silver's food. 
    I don't see why it would bother them at all.

    Sarah likes her canned food microwaved.  She doesn't like it cold

    I too have been microwaving my cats' (and dog's) food 
    and they are all fine.

    It may not be a good idea to re-warm food that has been left out
    all day, especially in the summer.  The food can spoil very quickly.

    The only thing I can think of is that I read somewhere (?)
    that heating food too much in the microwave could diminish
    its' nutritional value.  For that reason, I just take the
    chill off the food in mine, it's not actually warmed up.

    Milo and Maggie tell me that the microwave is not for cat food --
    the Hill's variety cat food that is.  In fact both have been known
    to dump microwaved cat food [no, it is not too hot -- it happens
    at any temp].
    
    "Cat Food" [a.k.a nachos, pizza, & cheese soup] is an entirely
    different matter -- in fact I feel strongly encouraged to prepare
    "Cat Food" by nuking as the fridge to table time is considerably
    shorter.

    Sweetie said "yyyyuuuuckkk" when I tried to warm up his C/D in the
    microwave, too.  ditto in a saucepan.  Sure wish C/D still came
    in small cans so S&H didn't have to have it cold from the fridge
    half the time.

    When Schnitzel's "sitter" comes to stay, she wraps the food not
    eaten in saran wrap until Schnitz feels the need to nibble again!

    My brother-in-law bought a microwave (something that my sister and him
    specifically hadn't done because they didn't need one) when they got
    their kitty so that he wouldn't have to feed the cat cold food..... 
    
    two more people owned by a kitty....
    

    Well, I must admit that the most use my microwave got when it was
    new was warming up Honey's food....
    
    My Chauncey also likes to have his food warmed, or at least to have
    the chill taken off.  Since I'll do just about anything to get him
    to eat, I've been adding a little canned (or actually jarred) gravy
    to his food and warming it in the microwave.  He loves it....

    When I feed "C.P." cold food he attempts to bury it. He will drag
    plastic bags (his favorite hiding place) to his food dish and cover
    it. After a while he will go back and eat normally. If I nuke it
    he eats right away. I feed him 1 part canned to 2 parts hills' feline
    growth. He is only 6 mo's old. If I eat cold food like sliced ham
    he can't get enough of it mustard and and all. If I just feed Hills
    he won't eat at all. I guess I want a healthy kittie and will do
    whatever it takes to get him to eat real kittie food and not mine.
    He will be weaned to nothing but dry food after he grows up and
    dosen't need the extra nutrition that a kitten needs.

    You may not want to put him on dry food completely, due to its
    suspected role in feline urological syndrome -- check with your
    vet about it, and what kinds, etc.
    

I have tried Chauncey on all of the better quality foods, but he snubs
    his nose to each and every one of them.  When I take out the Friskies
    Buffet canned food, though, he does a dance around the kitchen and
    makes all sorts of gurgling noises.
    
    Most recently, I received a free sample of Feline Vitality dry food.
    He seems to like this brand.  Hopefully, I can ween him off of Crave
    dry and onto the Feline Vitality.  At least I'll feel better knowing
    he's eating something of nutritional value.
    
    I guess abandoned cats are so grateful to be fed on a regular basis,
    they don't care how cheap the food is!!  Everytime I take him outside,
    the neighbors comment on what a BIG cat I have.  Since he loves
    to eat so much, I only give him a half can at a time.  The vet said
    two cans of food daily, one in the morning and one in the evening,
    with dry food during the day, but Chancey is getting so fat that
    I try to only give him one can per day now.  He is hard to resist,
    though!

    Have you tried the Purina Pro Plan dry food??  My Chauncey took
    to it right away, so your Chauncey might, too.  I can get you a
    sample box if you haven't tried it yet...
    
    Gee, I wish my Chauncey would get to be a little chub!  He's still
    not quite 7 pounds, and is nearly 2 years old...just a petite one!

    No, haven't tried that brand, but will look for it next time I food
    shop.  Is this brand supposed to be a better quality dry food?
    
    Ya know, Mary, when I named Chancey, I didn't even realize someone
    else in this notes file had a cat with that name.  When I went to
    visit my sister in Virgina last year, a friend of hers had a cat
    named Chauncey and I thought it to be a great name for a kitty.
    In fact, many people say my cat looks like a Chauncey!
    
    Oh well, I'm sure your Chauncey is a beautiful kitty too.  But don't
    let him get fat -- I'll bet he looks just fine the way he is.
