    I have a black and white female manx.  I have a problem with her
    which may not be a problem.  She is very small, and no matter what
    I feed her, she will not gain any weight.  You can see her hip bones
    when she walks and she is tiny enough that you can pick her up and
    hold her with one hand only.  She is 3 years old and has been vet
    checked.  The vet says that she is healthy.  I just worry about
    her because she is so thin.  She is very active and is always up
    to mischief.
    
    The reason that I worry, is because I had another manx before this
    one and do not remember having any problems keeping weight on her.
    Do I just have an unusual cat, or are manxs' small and tend to be
    thin.  
    
    Does anyone else out there have a manx?  Do you know if manx are
    just small cats.  Has anyone ever seen a large, fat manx.  Don't
    get me wrong, I'm not saying I want a fat cat, because I know that
    it isn't healthy for them to be fat, I just feel like my cat should
    be able to keep a little more weight on her than what she has.
    
    Any ideas on getting and keeping weight on a cat would be appreciated.
    She only likes canned cat food, but will nibble at the dry when
    someone is around, just to impress upon them that its time for her
    to be fed.  I will feed her 1/2 can of canned cat food in the morning
    and in the evening, and sometimes she won't eat all of it at either
    meal.  Then my other cat Buddy will come in and finish it off, but
    only after Shadow walks away from it.
    
    Any ideas would be helpful.

	I have had big Manx,small Manx-in between Manx. Were her parents small? By the age of 3 she is full grown-I think I could have a thyroid and blood sugar check though if it hasn't been done. The largest cat I ever owned was a Manx-23 pounds of solid muscle. The females do run a little smaller than the males and size is determined by the female side of the line-so it is probably just a small Manx.

Well, Merlin isn't _fat_, but he's a wee bit on the plump side. He weighs about fifteen pounds and is what's called "cobby." He has a bit of a tummy, but not much. Karamaneh, the Siamese, is the scrawny one. And she outeats him 2:1. Steve Kallis, Jr.

	Re .1 Are you a breeder of manx cats???? Where are you??? I would eventually like to find another manx the same color as the one I had before this one. I called her color a blue-cream, although that may not actually be what the color is called. She had grey, tan, and white, and cream streaking all over her body. When the light shined on her just right, she would actually look blue. She passed away about 3 years ago due to being attacked by a dog. It broke my heart and I just had to have another manx. I never allow my cats outside due to this episode.

	The manx kitties I have known and loved have been BIG - not fat, but extremely muscular. I can relate to your situation. Tiny Tanya the terrorist Aby is sooo skinny and boney, and it is sooo hard to put weight on her little (less than five puond) body. Now, she lives with Sulkitt the FATKAT. We have a very hard time trying to feed them different things. Sometimes we put Tanya in the bathroom by herself and give her extra canned food. Sulkitt got considerably fatter eating Tami Ami brand cat food (she now gets Science Diet!). Tanya even gained a little weight eating Tami Ami, so you might give it a try. Since we're on the subject of weight problems, does anyone know of a good way getting Sulkitt to reduce? We tend to just leave a bowl of Science Diet out for all three kitties, and to sneak extra canned food to Tanya. I tried exercising Sulkitt, getting her do do kitty-situps and leglifts. She was not thrilled. She is pretty active, but still too fat.

	I've spent the past year trying to fatten up little Chauncey (without fattening up not-so-little Honey). He's always been so small. My vet suggested Science Diet, since it was so high in fat content. Iams is as well. Well, Chauncey is now a whopping 7 pounds, and Honey is maintaining an even 11 (for the past 3 years). Both eat Iams (with a very occasional can of 9-Lives) and seem to be thriving. Maybe a food with a high fat content would help her along. Maybe kitten food (which has an even higher fat content) might work. Mary

	.3- Used to breed Manx,alas that was 15 years ago.Still miss not having a Manx even though I have 5 other cats.
