The poor kitty has a broken jaw from the accident and is still alive.
If the owner does not come forward to claim her, she will probably
be put to sleep. Aparently, the treatment is quite extensive and
the kitty will need alot of care afterwards.

| | Dr. Mulcahey is my vet too! I highly recommend her also.
She told us once that felines make up 75-80% of her clientele.
She also has 2 or 3 cats of her own. She's a real cat person.

I feel terrible about that poor kittie. It can sometimes take
a little while to find a cat owner, if you're lucky. It seems
that outdoor cats do wander sometimes for a day or several and
therefore their owners don't necessarily think anything is wrong
when they don't see their cat for a few days.

| | I don't know if Onyx could handle a sister. He is pretty spoiled.
I know that Crystal (our female spayed dog) would enjoy another
friend but I don't think it is fair for a sick cat to have to put
up with Crystal. Crystal would kiss a robin probably rather than
think about hurting it. We adopted Crystal when she was 8 mos.
old and she never had much of a puppy life so she will be a puppy
for quite a few more years. She enjoys Onyx and other animals that
belong to our relatives. However, Onyx barely tolerates the other
animals. He kind of like a 1-person cat.

| | Hi again,

Thanks to Donna and Mary for getting back to me about this kitty.
The cat for some reason has not been put to sleep. I'm wondering
if Eileen Mulcahey will adopt her or was going to help her on her
own. The receptionist there can't give me much information except
to call them at 3:00 today to find out about the cost info. This
kitty has a broken jaw and has to have it wired shut. She will
have tubes put in her nose for feeding purposes (sounds a bit strange
to me). Then there is the housing cost which I think is real cheap
(it cost me $5.00 a nite for Onyx because of his broken tail).

| | More info on the hit-and-run kitty...

The kitty is still alive because it bit a technician pretty bad.
Because this cat is probably wild, they are testing for rabies and
have to keep the cat around for 10 days.

| | Sorry to not have gotten back to this note. I have not checked
but think that the kitty was put to sleep. The vet did not think
that this kitty would be a good candidate for adoption because she
seemed to be too wild. I will call today and see what happened
and I will try to get back to here to input the status.

    Thanks to all,
    Joy
