| | Cathy/Don:

Where are you located? At a November cat show, we met a breeder
from Selkirk, N.Y. (I have his card at home), who sells his pet
quality kittens for $125, regardless of color-point. If you're
interested in his name and phone number, reply back here on notes
or send a message directly to me and I will forward the information.
Be aware that they are breeding Siamese very differently now--very
long body, legs, and head. If you're interested in what the breeders
call an "apple-cheeked" (old-fashioned) Siamese, you might want
to check out the Tonkinese breed. They are a cross between Siamese
and Burmese. My two Siamese are 14 years old, and we have decided
to get Tonkinese kittens when the "time" comes because we prefer
their looks to the new Siamese. A Tonkinese breeder in the N.H.
area is Ray Fusci (works at MKO), and you can get in touch with
    him.

    Hope this helps -

| | Thanks for the info.... we're located in Southern NH - work at MK0.
We'll probably get in contact with him. Our seven year old siamese
is what I think is referred to as "apple cheeked" and we do prefer
that look. Do the Tonkinese (sp) have short hair also? I've never
    heard of them.

    Thanks again.

| | Yes, the Tonkinese have shorthair also. They look very similar
to the "apple cheeked" siamese. I think the coat is a little thicker
    and plusher than the siamese.

    "Tonks" have amazingly sweet personalities.

| | The tonkinese is a cross between a siamese and a burmese. my cat
    sabrina is tonkinese,and she's really beautiful. she's 3/4 sealpoint
and 1/4 burmese, with the apple cheeks, and medium length fur, very
dark. can't really say she's sweet, but is very affectionate at
times and likes to knead my sheets and drool... she's kind of strange.
being part burmese her meow is a little sweeter than tiki's who's
a chocolate point and very sweet and cuddly.

| 438.6 | -<looking for siamese in VT >- | FOREST::SCHILLER |  | Thu Jan 08 1987 12:56 | 10 |
| | I have always had a siamese cat in my life until I left home. The
first one I (my folks) had lived to 16 when he died. They now have
    a lilac.

I was wondering if someone knows of a breeder in Vermont. I work
in Burlington and I would like to get a kitten in the near future.
I would prefer that it had papers, but it isn't a requirement.
    Any help would be appreciated.

| 438.7 | how about a snowshoe? | PUZZLE::CORDESJA |  | Thu Jan 08 1987 16:32 | 11 |
| | Cathy or Don,
I hadn't thought about it earlier but you might want to consider
getting a Snowshoe too. These cats are recognized for show in a
couple of associations. They look similar to an apple-headed siamese
but they have white paws. There is a topic in this file about them,
I can't remember the number but I will add it in a minute.

The snowshoe is from the mating of american shorthairs with siamese.

We've just found out that we may be relocating in the near future,
so we're gonna put off adopting a kitten for now.

| 438.10 | But I found one for you! | PUZZLE::CORDESJA |  | Fri Jan 09 1987 13:08 | 9 |
| | Cathy and Don,
Are you sure? I just found a homeless bluepoint female (?) that
would love to move in with you. She is currently living in the
hallway of my sisters (no pet) apartment building and begging food
off of Jan and her neighbor. They were thinking of taking her to
the place at the flea market that Jan got Bailey since they don't
destroy the cats but then I remembered you. We are located in Santa
Clara CA but the cat can be shipped.

    Jo,
We've been away from this conference for a while, so I just read
your note about the blue point.... Thanks for keeping us in mind,
but we really think it will be better to wait. I doubt that there
will be much of a problem finding a good home for her.

    Thanks so much again,
