URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT
Hello everybody in the world,
My brother, being a Belgian veterinary surgeon, has asked me
as the final possibility of solution to send this 'mayday'
all over the world:
<< Is there somewhere in the world a COMMERCIALIZED vaccine
against the AUJEWSKY-disease, also called PSEUDO-RABIES
for application on carnivores (let's say dogs and cats) ???
There are vaccines available, but always for herbivores
(let's say cows and horses).
It would allready be of a great help just knowing the name and
address of a company commercializing such a vaccin.
This is really a very urgent call >>
Hoping to get some usefull replies from somewhere,
Thanks,
Luc.

Dogs and cats are routinely vaccinated against rabies, whatever
kind of rabies that may be, psuedo or otherwise. I'd suggest you
call any veterinarian and they could tell you. I know my feline
gets shots every year, and rabies is one of the things she is
protected against.
I can't tell from your note whether or not you live in the US, but
if you do, you can just call any local vet or, if you live in the
Northeast, call Tufts School of Vet Medicine in Boston.
I assume you're looking for the pharmaceutical company that produces
the stuff and not just a vet who can dispense it. Why can't your
brother find it in Belgium? It seems so commonplace over here!
I have a friend at Tufts I can contact if you reach brick walls.

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for replying, but I'm afraid that the problem is not that
easy as you presume.
Pseudo-rabies is not rabies at all! (that why it's called PSEUDO).
It seems to be extremely rare on carnivores, and by the replies
I allready received by mail (all of the USA), even in the States
there seems not to be a remedy going farther yet than the experimental
stage.
By the way, I'm living in Belgium, and I agree, vaccinations against
rabies (the real one) is indeed very commonplace.
Thanks for the reply, I hope we both have learned a little, altough
for the moment there seems not to be a solution coming on somewhere.
Luc.
