5477.0. "%UCX-E-SMTP_XFAIL Error With Long Dist'n List" by CTUADM::OWENS (Ken Owens @ CTU) Wed Apr 30 1997 13:53
A customer is getting an error, %UCX-E-SMTP_XFAIL, when sending mail to
a VMS MAIL distribution list of about 27 names. The VMS MAIL accounts
are forwarded to a Unix machine. The VAX 4100 system is running VMS
v5.5-2H4 with UCX v3.1 - ECO 3 (since upgraded to ECO 14).
The mailing list seems to be placed in 1 line of about 1700 characters.
The customer has found a workaround by splitting the distribution list.
I can't find any information on the %UCX-E-SMTP_XFAIL error. Is it
just a result of the "To:" list being too long and is the solution of
splitting it up the only solution?
Regards,
Ken Owens, Calgary

5477.1 | VMS mail problem...look for patch | ZUR01::DEMETRIOU | | Fri May 02 1997 09:26 | 8 |
| I think this is a VMS Mail bug.....do not forget that UCX
SMTP mail is using the calleable VMS Mail routines , so if
these are having problems the same upplied to SMTP of UCX.
A patch was available but I can't remember which one.
