5199.0. "still "File error !AS" with LPD" by UTOPIE::FISCHER_J () Wed Feb 05 1997 11:43
Hi all,
after installing LPD_SHR-image from ECO4 (UCX 4.0), we still seem to
have the same problem as in note #5136 (frequent RMS-
errors with UCX_LPD), but some slight differences:
  - the frequency seems to be reduced drastically now.
  - some error messages have disappeared in the logfile
    UCX$LPD_RCV_STARTUP.LOG (if it is really the same error)
Old problem:
...
$ run sys$system:ucx$lpd_rcv.exe
%%%%%%%%%%%%                   20-JAN-1997 12:45:12.59  %%%%%%%%%%%%
%UCX-E-LPD_FILERROR, File error /SNA$WORK/LPD_SPOOL/ODESSA/dfA933WNTSRV04.DAT
-RMS-F-NEF, not positioned to EOF on $PUT (sequential organization only)
%UCX-E-LPD_FILERROR, File error !AS
UCX_LPD      job terminated at 20-JAN-1997 12:45:12.84
....
We assumed this problem to be addressed by ECO4 from UCX 4.0:
    Problem:
        LPD printing: leftover and reused DFA and CFA files.
        Solution:
        Always create a new version of the DFA/CFA file.
        Reference:
        CFS.44820
There is still some problem, but rather infrequent:
$ run sys$system:ucx$lpd_rcv.exe
%UCX-E-LPD_FILERROR, File error !AS
  UCX_LPD      job terminated at  5-FEB-1997 16:23:33.78
The lines with the concerned filename and the RMS-F-NEF-message
have disappeared (but is it really the same problem ?)
image name: "LPD_SHR"
  image file identification: "UCX V4.0-10H"
  link date/time: 21-NOV-1996 06:39:23.94
  linker identification: "05-13"
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Johann
