At the solstice, we were at Copley Plaza, getting ready to enjoy an
evening of Jazz, thank you Globe. (Marsden liked the drum solos best.
I would have been concerned if he answered bass solo.)

So, the sun sets 1 second earlier today, right?

| | Actually, the sun will continue to set later for another week+; it's
just that it's rising later now (leading to a shorter duration of
    daylight.)

Only if things are not going too well, such as the rains not coming
or storms damaging the crops. Even then, it's more usual to burn an
enemy in a wicker cage or garrote a criminal and toss him in the bog.

If things are going OK, the druids visit the sacred groves and cut
mistletoe, bringing it back to the stone circle ti initiate a festival
of art, music and dancing, Offerings of metalwork might be made to
thank the gods - typically tossed into a body of water.
