| | Seriously, I came a lot closer to offing myself with a bottle of bleach
once than I ever have with a gun...

For a little extra money, I used to clean my Dad's music studio. One
day, I got the wise idea that I would mix a ammonia with bleach to
make a super-duper floor cleaner... the resulting vapor cloud led
to the evacuation of the 4th floor of the Day Building in Worcester
    Mass...

yo, -b...i had a similiar (tho not as major) problem...

once, about 4 years ago, i had this roommate who decided one day to get
    a dog...which was not allowed in the condo...it was a blaq lab...the
cutest thing, but being a puppy, he was rambuncious (sp)...so during
the day, she kept him in one of the bathrooms (we had 2) and for just
in case, she put paper down in the shower (it was one of those that
    didn't have a tub...just a shower stall)...well, after months of this,
the blaq inq from the paper started staining the floor of the shower,
and she would not stop this habit, even after i put the dog in her room
for the day...and eventually she moved out, with the dog, but did not
repair one bit of damage left by the mutt...so i had to...nothing was
getting that inq out...i used comet, i used windex, i used 409...then i
thought about the bleach...which actually started working...then, when
i took a header onto the toilet, much to my remaining roomies
amusement, i remember there was amonia in windex and 409...

but i got that damn shower clean!!!!

Not to mention, a fair amount of amonia in doggie pee pee too...

I hope you gave that roommate a good smaq for laughing at you
    like that... :-)

    anwhere to be seen...but still...

and no, i didn't smaq him...it was pretty stupid of me to be mixing
everything...plus it gave us one more thing to hate the other roomie
    for...

Hunters use baking soda in the was with their hunting clothes, we use

have UV brightners or "wonderfull spring smell".

baking soda, tho it tastes horrible, is a wonderful additive to
toothpaste. i have even brushed with just water and baking soda and it
leave my mouth feeling cleaner than when i just use tooth paste.

now, about the baking soda in the wash...on the back of the box, it
lists its many uses...one of them is in the laundry. i am assuming
(tho i realize you shouldn'g) that it helps eliminate what ever odors
are in your clothes. i tried it once, but the box said to use 1/2 cup
per load, and i didn't use that much, so maybe i didn't use enough to
    tell the difference...
