    thing, to tell the truth. But I do listen to Ronnie James Dio a lot. I

    It just kind of gets on my nerves. At least it's better than "I speed
    at night"off of "Last in line". To each his own. Have you heard Black
    Sabbath's "Dehumanizer"?  A lot of it is silly, but there's a song
    called "I" that's real cool. I think that's the last album Dio did with
    them. My friend has a bunch of Sabbath bootlegs and every time they do
    an "Ozzy"-era song Dio does his best to mock the lyrics. It's funny as,
    well it's just funny.

    Not hopeless, per se, just clueless.  I'm just kidding. I just think
    those songs pale in comparison to his stronger ones, like "don't talk
    to strangers", "Egypt", "Heaven and Hell", "Rainbow in the dark", etc.
    He has such an ability to convey emotions and then he puts a filler
    song on there and it's like pasta with no sauce compared to a 4- course
    meal with dessert.

    What was found was that out of the thirty five respondents interviewed
    by 1991 Twenty One respondents had at least mentioned one band that
    could be described by 1996 standards as Alternative.  By 1996 the
    number of respondents that could be described to have listening habits
    of Alternative rose to Twenty Seven.  Eight respondents had no change
    in listening habits and were unchanged in the genre of music that they
    listened to.  Age had no critical effect on whether or not a respondent
    was more or less likely to start listening to Alternative music or not

    The word "alternative" means absolutely nothing any more.

    	So this survey was merely a cover for an overtly biased paper
    	on alternative music?
    
    	The base note read, "studying a genre of music".
    
    	Alternative wasn't a genre, it was a culmination of several
    	musical styles. A fad, etc.
    
    	Rock & Roll was acused of being a fad, same as heavy metal
    	and every other metal incarnation.
    
    	Anything that isn't on the radio can be called alternative.
    
    	The meaning of the word is relative, as an "alternative",
    	I'll listen to Neil Sedaka.
    
    	Does that mean that Neil Sedaka wrote alternative music?
    
    	I doubt it, depends on the context...

    "alternative" music isn't an alternative form of music anymore, as it's
    mainstream now. Poison or Whitesnake are more alternative for 1996 than
    No Doubt or NIN. So, as April said, "alternative" doesn't mean anything
    anymore.

         SLAYBOUNTY must be into the alternative scene then, because I

         They didn't spell their name "Quiet Riot". I know, because I was a
    big fan of theirs myself. Of course I was 9  or 10 at the time, so at

        Yeah, now that I think about it, they did sort of rock in a stupid,
    '80's kind of way. Maybe I've still got their tapes in my garage, along
    with my old Iron Maiden collection. 

    Quiot(SP?) Riot used to be my fave band, way back in the 6th grade or
    so.  8)

         Yeah, see, you know how they really spelled their name. It was
    Quiot, not Quiet. And SLABOUNTY calls himself a true fan. HAH, HAH,
    HAH!!! By the way, I saw an update on those guys on MTV not too long
    ago. They're now a club band, still playing the same songs as they did
    in the '80's. But at least they're still playing, unlike other '80's
    bands that hid in disgrace. 

    Quiet Riot is the _CORRECT_ spelling.  At least, that's what my
    tapes & CDs say.  Do you have a special misspelled version for
    'true' fans like you?   ;^)

    	people anyone should ever challenge regarding spelling, since
    	it is VERY rare that I make a mistake in that department.
    
    	And I don't care how old a band is, or how bad they've become,
    	but if they had a hit song/album at 1 time or another there's
    	no reason for me not to like that song/album forever.

    talking about different groups. But I did find, in my basement, an old
    poster that spelled their name QUIOT, not Quiet.

         Maybe I bought a fake or bootleg poster....it's too bad, because I
    was really, really proud of it. I am unable to find any of my old
    tapes...my parents decided that all my music was Satanic when I was
    about twelve and they raided my music library. I lost a lot of Iron
    Maiden, Slayer, Metallica, and others on that grim day.

    I feel for you dude!  My parents raided my tapes when I was out
    one night!  They took all my Michael Jackson and Duran Duran tapes! 
    They even took one of the Culture Club ones!  They said they thought I
    would grow up to be a WUSS! ( don't go there Shawn !) I was forced to
    listen to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Motley Crue!  It was awful!
    
    Hey I was looking aroung my basement, and I found my collectors edition
    poster!  I paid $25 for this so it's got to be the right
    spelling......KWYATT RYIT!  It was even signed by Calvin De Brew!  You

    there playing small club's and bar's, like every other major act from
    the 80's. you'll most likely have to pickup some fan mag to find out 
    where. i caught this interview on some show a few weeks ago about them
