After playin' the tape about 4 times this weekend the music keeps
playing in the ole head. I went into a store and the whole time in
there I kept humming to myself 'don't walk away'....It's a great
tape and it grows on you just like Slaughter's SITY did!

| I also saw Firehouse on "In Concert '91" this last weekend and have to
say that I enjoyed their performance. It was clearly obvious that it
was indeed a live performance (unlike the bogus Lynch Mob appearence on
the same program) and I really apprecitated that.
The rhythms of the songs really thinned out when the guitar player took
his solos and he dropped the ends of them to get back into the rhythm
parts in time, but I don't mind that, it's realistic. I thought this
band had two guitar players? There was only one that performed at that
show.
All in all, they were the highlight of the show for me! Cher sucked
*really bad*!!! I couldn't even stand to watch it... And you can read
my comments on Lynch Mob in that groups note (bad mix, didn't sound
completely live, lifeless performance, Lynch's playing was totally
uninspired, the list goes on and on...)
I was disappointed that Firehouse only got to do two songs though and
that they choose two ballads to put in that time. Wish they'd done
some more rockin' material...

Listened to this at by buddies house last night.The music was ok quite
melodic,nice to listen too,just enough crunchy guitar playing to keep
me interested.The only thing that stopped me liking this band were the
lyrics,geez they were cheesy and unimaginative.Baby don't treat me bad
is quite a good single and very catchy.Found myself singing it after a
while.

| I heard a song on the radio last week when I was home and I was
thinking "Woah, this is cool! Who *is* this anyway?"! It sounded
like a mix between old Dokken (vocals) and old Ratt ("Out of the
Celler" vintage, guitar harmonies and interplay). It was real cool!
So naturally I was very surprised when they announced it as a Firehouse
song, as it sounded NOTHING like the other two songs I'd heard from
them ("Don't Treat Me Bad" and "Love Of A Lifetime"). I don't remember
what it was called, but I liked it a lot.
Quite a bit more bite to it then the other songs. The Ratt influence
sound especially blew me away, 'cause few bands sound like Ratt to me!
Anyway, since this was on a pretty pablum based AOR station, I suspect
that this will be the next single off the album, so no doubt you'll all
hear it soon.

I think the song you mean is "All She Wrote", and yes it is a very good

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have a Poison CD in my collection than
this one - but that was a pretty good song. Other than that one, they

I was driving somewhere with John, our guitarist, and a friend of his
and that wicked ballad they do came on the radio. Johnny didn't
care one way or the other but his friend Al was like, "This inhales,
switch the station." I looked in the mirror and said, "Hey, if I

Well, I agree with Friz. I like this CD. My fave is "Don't Walk Away".
They do have an almost too refined sound, but its good and heavy. I'll
admit it does sound like commercial radio HM, but I like most all of
the songs on it.

WAAF will be hosting a Beach Party inside
the hotel and the only way to get tickets is

must be 21, because they're turning the HUGE
function room into a Beach Club for the night
and alcohol will be served. Security will be
awful tight there, just as a warning. I'll be

Drinks there are rather on the expensive side, since
it's a hotel and all. Here's a quick rundown:
BUD, MILLER LITE - $2.95 MICHELOB - $3.40 HEINY - $3.95
MIXED DRINKS - $3.50 TOP SHELF - $3.65 TO $3.95.
I know, they are VERY expensive, I don't make the prices
I just serve all the happy patrons.

I just got off the phone with WAAF and I asked a couple of
questions for you.
Camera's are allowed - Let's hear those Yahoo's
And Tigg, this is a MUST!!! You MUST wear some sort
of beach attire, not necessarily a bathing suit. I asked
what if I don't have beach attire on. She said I don't get in.
So I'm sure if you walk in with a straw hat, sunglasses on and a
beach towel draped around your neck they'll let you in.
The bars are VERY limited and we won't have MIDORI, but will
have a cheaper brand of Melon Liquor. BUT, if there's enough
people requesting it, I can probably get a bottle of it.
If you know SueJ, she knows me, but if you don't I won't be
wearing any beach attire. I'llbe wearing my regular uniform.
Black pants, white tux shirt with black bow tie and suspenders.
My hair isn't looooooong, but I'll have the longest hair out of
all the other bartenders (guys) there, and I have a beard/mustache.
My name tag will say TOM, but call me Gilley.

BUT, there's only one problem, as I mentioned in a previous note,
these (portable) bars are VERY VERY limited. The only ingredients
out of the above will be the Vodka and Kahlua that I'll have on hand.
I know, it kinda blowz. You would figure, being a Beach Party and all
there would be some sort of a variety of drinks to chooze from. I
wouldn't even count on any frozen drinks either. But I'm sure I can
come up with some sort of concoctions to do as shooters with what I
have at the bar.

Cool. They used to make these down at Chets Diner in Northboro
ala the following:

Exit 24B (Northboro/Marlboro Route 20) At the end of
the ramp you have no choice but to go right.
Pass the Shell station and go straight through the
lights. Pass McDonald's (on the right) and you'll
see a yellow and black sign (I think) that says
Royal Plaza Marlboro.. it's set off WAY in the back
from the road.

just after Charles Chevrolet, on the right. Follow the
entrance road all the way till you hit the hotel.

RE: a few back....
All you guys with booze/beer and whatever else
you're bringing up to rooms should do is just walk
right past the Front desk, hop on the elevator
and go up a floor or two, have someone wait there
in the halls with all your booze and have someone
else go down and find out what room to go to. Ya
see, this way it already looks like you know where
you're going. Maybe this will help ya !!!

Well, after listening to this album 3 times, I'm extremely glad I
bought it!! Most of it cranks!!
If it wasn't for "All She Wrote" being played on the radio, I'd
never have gotten it, based on "Love of a Lifetime". Another case
of the wimpy song[s] being released as singles.
I hear some Dokken and some Stryper in these guys.

I bought the new one this weekend because I liked a few of the tunes
on the last one. My first impression, it was a mistake to buy. The
opening song is the only one I care for. The rest, well boring to say
the least. Maybe it'll grow on me, I'll give it a few more spins before
I make a final judgement.

The album as a whole is strong but two tracks are limp.
Those imfamous tracks are "Rock You tonight and Talk of the Town".

I think it's pretty good besides that. I agree with Mike though:
Reach For The Sky is the best song on the album.

Yeah I know what you mean Greg. This new one is very hard to get
through because of the vocals and after about the 4th or 5th cut its
like "didn't I just hear this song". All the songs seem to melt togeth-
er and starts sounding boring. I like the way the guitars sound in this
band, probably why I like Britny fox too. But, a little goes a long way
because its the same sound on every song. Does that make sense?

I picked up the new album last night ... it's OK, but not even
close to being as good as the first. Most of it is too slow for
me. The first one cranked, this one just kinda rocks a little.

I picked it up as well - I have to listen a little more to see if
I like it or not. Kinda reminds me of what happened to me with the
second Winger album. Like - it's sorta Ok, but....
One song on the new Firehouse sounds like Def Lep to me. The new
Def Lep as it stands is not quite as good as I'd expected. I like
their older stuff better.

That's the one - Didn't like it at all either. There are some decent
songs on this release. Nothing hits me like "All She Wrote", "Lover's
Lane", or even "Don't Treat me Bad". Gotta listen some more.

"3" is out ... I picked it up Friday night [looking for the new
Ugly Kid Joe CD is gonna break me if I don't stop looking around
at every music store I stop at!!].
Definitely not as good as the 1st, but I'd say it's as good as
the 2nd.
It'll get another listen or 2 this week.

Now it's better than the 2nd.
The 1st 4 songs are quite good, as is #6, "Get a Life" ... the
crankin' song for this album. And there are a few others that
are almost as good.
It's got its share of ballads, of course, being a poseur-type
album ... but it's worth sale price.
