The band that I initially started learning drums
with. Great band, but after the first two
albums, they really started going downhill.

       I agree Rob,

Was their second album Candy-O? I liked that album also.

But, as you said, they did go downhill after that!

        Still some good tunes though.

Yeah!! These guys are the best.

    	Discography:

    			The Cars
    			Candy'O
    			Shake It Up
    			Panorama
    			Heartbeat City
    			Greatest Hits
    			Door to Door

As was said, the first 2 albums kicked some *ss - but the
more recent ones were toned down ALOT.

Shawn, you got Panorama and Shake it Up
backwards. Panorama was their 3rd album, and the
only real hit on it was Touch and Go.

Hey Pete, you're hysterical. Ho ho, how funny,
ha, ha, it is to laugh ...

I ALWAYS get "Panorama" and "Shake It Up" backwards ...
can never remember which order they go in.

There were a couple others on "Panorama" that were
"semi-listenable to" but I don't remember what they
        were.

I agree that Ben has a MUCH better voice than Ric - but
Ric sounds OK. Ben sings MOST of the stuff we hear on
the radio - "Just What I Needed" and "Double Trouble"
        come to mind.

What is this "Door to Door" album you mention, I've never heard of it.
I've heard, after the "best of" was out that they splited up and both
ben and ric when soloing. Is this still true ?
I really like their videos too :-).

I saw them back around '84 when they toured for Heartbeat City. One of
the weakest concert performances I've ever seen. The music sounded
great, just like the record (EXACTLY) like the record. And why
shouldn't it?? About 3/4 of it was sequenced.

They didn't move or talk much or anything. I swear that Ric O's feet
didn't leave the same two spots the entire show. The only band member
that you could see move at all was Elliot Easton, and he was confined
in this tiny little area off on the side of the stage. It was pretty
funny actually, 'cause he raced back and forth in this little box the
whole show. Like a caged animal or something.

I'll never go see them again...

I'll hafta agree that they don't put on the best stage show,
'coz as was said they hardly move at all.

It's wild to see how they've changed over the years - com-
pare the picture of Greg Hawkes on the first album (long
hair) to that on "Heartbeat City" (the only thing missing
in this picture is a pocket protector).

        8^)

Gotta give him credit, though - he does most/all of the drum
programming (blech!) and he's a good keyboardist.

I am an avid cars fan but I have to go along with the discussion -
Great songs, poor shows - I saw the three 'Heartbeat City' shown in
Providence, and 'Door to Door' also....
    My favorites:
Debut Album - Just What I needed
                  Bye Bye Love
                  Moving in Stereo
                  You're All I've Got Tonight
    Candy-O - Candy-O
Got A Lot On My Head
                  It's All I Can Do
                  Dangerous Type
    Panorama - Touch and Go
Shake it Up - Round and Round
                  Since You're Gone
                  Shake It Up
                  Just A Dream Away
    Greatest - Tonight She Comes
Door to Door- Strap Me In
                - Double Trouble
                - You Are The Girl

I also should mention that 'Let's Go' is a great song from
Candy-O and is a great party song..
