Saw them on MTV last night whilst helping a buddy pack
    	up her apartment.

I found them to be really good, too, but I like just about
anything, so I don't know how "valid" my opinion is on them.
Their looks are pretty common....long hair, cute, etc.

I can't remember the name of the album off the top of my head
but I know it's something like "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking
Rich". The song they probably played was the same one they've
been playing on MTV...ummm....Arggh!! What's the name of it!?!

Bad Boys?? Dirty Boys?? Ohhhh..I can't remember!! Can
    	someone help me out here?!

Hold all calls boozin' buddies, cos we got a humdinger an' a doozie
of a tale to lay on you lucky, lucky, lucky buggers. Them US
    we-might-be-wimpy-on-record-but-we-kick-ass-live merchants Warrant
have been doin' the bad-boy bop around groovy ol' London nightclub
scene durin their reshent promotional stint in Blighty.

FACT! After shakin' their bottoms onstage at notorious rock night
at the Hippodrome the lads took their bows (well nobody else wanted
'em) an' poured their beer over the 'crowd'. Now, the 'kids' in
the front row were ever-so-slightly peeved at receivin' a taste
of their own medicine, so dragged singer Jani Lane into their midst
an' reputedly (yep, another FACT!) introduced he of the upside-down
eyelids to some bare-knuckled Brit hospitality!

FACT! The next day Jani cancelled a photo session claimin' to be
    'ill'. Suuuuuuuuuuuspect!

FACT! A coupla daze later, devoid of wounded Jani, Warrant checked
out the Astoria's increasingly dodgy Friday Rock Night. And accordin'
to our man at the scene, it was pretty close on kickin' out tie
when one of the venue's ever=friendly Ejection Technicians 'politely'
asked a member of Warrant to drink up and bugger off. The UNSPECIFIED
WARRANT MEMBER responded by 'politely' telling the technician to
go take a hike. To which he responded by 'politely' pushing the
unspecified Warrant personage off his stool. To which the unspecified
but obviously towering Warrant member responded standing up (and
up and up) and 'politely' bopped said security staff geezer!

| | Saw Warrant at the San Jose Civic last Friday. The acoustics
in that place aren't too hot, but they sounded okay. Jani
talks too much! I liked it at first, but then it started getting
kind of boring. But he was semi-humorous! The only thing I didn't
appreciate were the remarks about 30 year olds (That's just hitting
too close to home!) And they are terrible poseurs, but other than
that they're not too bad to listen to/and pretty damn good to look at.
We went to a rock auction (great stuff, wished I had some dough!)
after the show at a local club, the Cabaret. Craig Chaquico (sp?)
was there, Jimmy DeGrasso (Y & T) was there, and rumour said that
Warrant was supposed to show up too. They did. They were burnt
but managed to talk to everyone at the club (there were only
about 30 people there). A friend of their's happened to sit be-
side me, so he got Joey Allen to sign a back stage pass for me.
When I asked how the show the night before went with Bad English
opening - he didn't say much! Can't wait to hear from Deen. Any
way they were pretty cool. And it was a fun meeting them.

| | I happened to be in Connecticut friday night when Motley Crue and
Warrant were playing at the Civic Center. Jani Lane did an autograph
signing at the bar we were partying in. To make a long story short,
my girlfriend and her boyfriend and I were mistaken for Nikki Sixx and
the Crue girls (i guess Motley Crues' back up singers, but i don't knwo
for sure)....anyway, we were standing on a staircase all by ourselves
and the crowd decided that we must be celebrities and started screaming
at us....honest to god, i'm not making this up, the place went
berserk... it was a riot....Jani totally lost control of the room,
no one was paying any attention to the poor man....so, he makes his way
over to me and starts spewing alot of b.s. in my ear when basically
what he was doing, was just trying to stay somewhere in the
limelight...he started telling people around him that i was his fiancee
and stuff and in between my hysterical laughter and the crowd screaming
i said something like "i'm outta here" and he said ok, let's go...so,
my friends and i took off and jani and the guards all left together...
it was really bizarre but i thought it was very astute of him to
assess the situation quickly and find someway of capitalizing on all
the attention....which was directed at us and not him....there was no
way he was leaving that room with no one paying him any attention, so
he jumped into a situation where he'd still look good, by joining my
friends and I.....no idiot he......well, jani, if you're reading...
i'm sorry i didn't recognize you when you tugged on my sleeve...guess
you're not used to that...and sorry we stole your thunder, honey!.....i
did get a boot out of it though..(insert evil grin)............./karen

| | Hello again....this is another in the "these things can only happen to
me" department.....remember my little story about running into Jani in
Connecticut..i think it was reply number 43 or somewhere around there..
well it happened again this past friday night. As i'm sure you know,
Warrant and Motley Crue played the Centrum this past friday and sat.
nite. I went to the show on saturday nite...but friday at about 11pm or
so i strolled into McGillicuddy's in Worcester and ran smack dab into
Jani and the rest of the band....he started screaming "Oh my God, i
don't believe it, you two again!!" and raced over to my friend and I,
swept us up and deposited us at their table.....he, apparently
remembered the last encounter we had the previous friday. His bass
player Jerry immediately started to try and schmooz my girlfriend by
saying little things like "baby, i've got a condom with your name on
it!"...what a hopeless romantic, huh?...(or is that a hopeful, bozo??)
i don't know, in any case, he couldn't have turned her more off if
he'd tried.....first of all, my friend is gorgeous (and i'm not the
only one who thinks so)...she's heard it all before..and this approach
just pisses her off no matter who you are...so, in the end...their whole
approach was to get all the attractive women in the place to sit around
their table in the corner to make it all look good....we sat there for
awhile and when it was apparent what was going on, we then got up and
left...while we were sitting there all these little girls were coming
over for pictures and were looking at me like i must be jani's main
event of the evening and i tired of that pretty quick....although he
had his arm around me, i think it was more to keep the girls at bay than
for any other reason, guess he must have felt comfy with me after the
rather strange circumstances of our bumping into each other twice in
one week.I must say he was a perfect gentleman and we had alot of fun
talking. I only asked him one question cause he hates to be asked any
questions ...says it feels like an interview.....i asked him what
question he most hated to be asked in a professional interview...he said
his least favorite is "how does it feel to be an overnite
success?"....he says he always wants to say "F -You" since he's slogged
around in bars playing for the last ten years....it hardly seems to be
overnite......I left after awhile cause i got uncomfortable...i make a
lousy groupy....i asked the other guys if they played in the band and
what instruments they played etc...Jerry, the bass player and (for you
ladies out there)...the most adorable of the group laughed when i
asked what he played and he said "gee, i guess you missed last months
copy of Teen Beat, huh?....i laughed and said it must have gotten lost
in the mail.....they are all pretty normal and i can't even
fault jerry for his raging hormones....he gave it a shot......he needs to
work on his smooth a bit if he wants to deal with real women...than again,
i suppose there are enough girls out there that would do anything for the
chance.....and isn't that frightening?...to make a long long story short.
..we had a good time and the highlight was when the band got up, took
over the stage...(a band called Roxxi was playing that night) and played.
    ..they did ZZ's, Tush and something else that i don't remember...i don't
know if they played particularly well but a good time was had by all....
re: tigga...don't know if your allegation is correct but believe me there
were plenty of little ladies there that would have trudged out the door had
he asked them...........i scraped his hand off my knee and went home...
so after all this bumping into these people in different states, i went
to the concert the following night and only heard their last song....
oh well, i went to hear the Crue anyway....GREAT show! the one down
side to Jani and co. is that they promised alot of people...like the
band at McGillicuddy's, tix and passes and they never came through so if
you should bump into them and they say the same thing to you...don't
believe it unless their security people take your name down...those
are the guys that makes tix and passes happen!

Has anyone heard the new Warrant album, "Cherry Pie"?

I have it on loan from my sister's boyfriend, and I am rather
impressed ... there's some great stuff on this album!!

    	"Uncle Tom's Cabin" "Train, Train"
    	"Cherry Pie"

[and another, which happens to be my favorite song on the album,
but I can't remember the name of it!!]

The last "song" on the album is pitiful ... it's called "Ode to
Tipper Gore" and contains excerpts from Jani Lane's 'stage banter'
from concerts. You can guess what it sounds like.

I personally think them a serious gaggle of poseur glam losers, who
need to hire attractive women to sell their music for them. I mean,
there is no need to have a woman down on her knees behind that car

| | Ok, you asked for it.

This record suffers from a severe case of
bad-hard-rock-generic-commercialism. There is nothing new at all. The
same nondescript guitar riffs that appear in a variety of the "heavy
metal" released since Motley Crue first hit it big back in the early
80's. Garden variety "musicians" in the latest leather and bandannas,
and the prettiest hair since Brooke Shields. Lyrics directly from the
Cray "let's describe our prepubescent wet dreams" Lyric Generator....
"Oooohhh baby, your chest is really big, your hair is big, your butt is
big, why don't you come to my awesome bedroom, take off your clothes
    and let me sodomize you....."

Of course, you need something to distinguish this band from say, Winger
or Slaughter, so they throw in the woman. That does seem to be the
    thing that everyone remembers.

    Not at all surprising...

I kind of like the song, but I'm already getting sick of hearing it.
That's one reason I typically don't like songs with a story, because
after I hear the story a few times it loses it's listening appeal.

The only exception I can think of is Queensryche's Operation:Mindcrime
because the story is so complex and I kept hearing things I hadn't
caught previously even after listening to it for months. At the same
time, the story was accessable enough to get the general idea of it
after just a couple of times through.

"Uncle Tom's Cabin" is pretty obvious the first time through and
there's really nothing I've noticed to hear in it after that first
time. That's boring to me, I prefer lyrics that make me think about
    'em a little.

Cryptic thought provoking lyrics are cool to me. But at the same time,
I can also easily deal with lyrics that are utterly mindless or even
ones I can't understand (the way they're sung), because for those
instances I tend to concentrate on the music instead. Seems to me that
people that play story songs go out of their way to concentrate your
attention on the lyrics and many times it means that the rest of the
song is musically boring, so I can't even ignore the lyrics if I wanted
    to...

Welp... Went to "POSEFEST 91" last night...

Overall.. thought it was a GREAT show...

    Sorry Friz... I missed Firehouse...

Trixter was much better than I expected them to be... they still
looked like a High School band, but overall they were tight and
sounded great... Its good to hear a band screw up on backup vocals
    every now and again!!

Warrant... what can I say, they put on a GREAT show.. I was surprised..

The show was pretty long, lots of talk and stories between songs.. They
had a Keyboard player that sang some of the backups and also played
    hamonica..

They had some of the usual fireworks.. At the beginning of one of the
songs (not sure which one) these 6 flames about 20-30 feet tall shot
out of the floor.. What was funny was it caught one of the micstands
on fire, about 10 seconds later a rodie came runnin out with a fire
    extinguisher and puts it out!!

Near the end of the set Jani Lane came out and sang.. uhh... $hit,
what was it... one of the ballads... on a little 5'by5' stage in
the middle of the place, (right where I was sittin..) before he sang
he asked if 'The Channel' was open tonight, and invited everyone
down for a drink.. (boy would I have liked to have been the headliner
that night!!) Then he asked if anyone had a cigerrett, within 5 seconds
he must'uv had at least 200 butts thrown at him...

At the end of the night they had Trixter and Firehouse come out and
sing 'You got the right to Party' by the Beastyboyz....

Oh ya, he took a shot at Axl... he walked up to the end of the stage
and said, 'Where's that person I just saw with the camera?!' It was
funny cuz everyone suddenly got quite and went oooooooooooo... then
he said "You can take as many pictures as you want of me, I would'uv
been an accountant or something if I did'nt want my picture taken!"
Then he bent over and dropped his pants and said "take a picture of
    this!"

    Great show!! very entertaining...

| | I too went to POSEFEST and thought the night was excellent.
Firehouse got things going-- Excellent set, very clear sounding.
Trixter was real good... Warrant kicked....
Lots of pryo... Very Good Sound... They started off the evening
with a song I never heard of and had one other song in the set that
was I assume going to be on the new album.. They did We will Rock You
also.. Jani was singing Heaven on the 5' by 5' platform in the middle
of the pavillion... Blind faith was done brilliantly...
Show lacked a little during Train Train but picked up right after
    that..

The title of the tour is Blood Sweat and BEERS... It may also be the
title of the future album... Jani also challenged someone as a warmup
to the axl vs. vince fight---- Vanilla Ice...

	Hi guys,
Now don't get me wrong, I am *not* sticking up for Warrant,
and I don't really like them, but I think they deserve a bit
of a break. The song 'We Will Rock You' was done for a
*movie* they were probably asked to do that song specifically
just for the movie. Agree it might not be well done, but
I am not sure they had a choice in regards to 'which' song
they got to do. The song is for the movie 'Gladiators (sp?)'

Sorry, but that is not how it works these days. The movie people,
working as cheaply as possible, look for bands who have songs that
will fit their soundtrack. Do you think Extreme was asked to write
Play With Me for Bill & Ted? NOT! We Will Rock You was probably
recorded by Warrant for their next album, and just happened to fit
    into that movie's theme.

I don't think one song from Extreme can by used for a blanket
case. 'Ballroom Blitz' was specifically redone for 'Waynes
World' which *could* be the case for Warrant as well.
(I know, now *I* am using a blanket case....)
Either way, we will never know, and we can't say for sure either
way. So, all I am saying is cut them some slack in this case,
because it *might* be the way I described.

| | re: Warrant covering Queen
First off, Queen did NOT have to give permission for the song to be covered.
Any band can cover any song, as long as they give proper credit, and pay the
appropriate royalty fees (which I believe is now 6 cents per copy sold).
Secondly, you gotta remember that this song if from a movie soundtrack. First
off, that means that the song must have been recorded and included in the
movie LONG before Freddie Mercury's death - movies are usually produced at
least 6 months in advance of release, sometimes over a year.
Third, the band also has no control over when the song was released - again,
it was part of the movie, and that's the release date.
FWIW, I haven't even heard it yet. But I just felt someone should stick up
for Warrant, when everyone is blaming them for something that is most likely
far beyond their control....

| | HEY HEY KIDS!!!! Warrant stopped by the KILO studios last week and
did an interview along with playing two of their new tunes.

The song played are called "Machine Gun" and "Bitter Pill".

I think it might surprise a few of you since the tracks have a real
good "live" feel and Warrant is damn heavy in concert.

Jani said the band was unhappy with the production on the first album
with Beau Hill because it was too "glossy". Then the first record did
so well the band was told to use Beau on the second album which they
were unhappy with also. This time around they used Micheal Wagner who
gave them an awesome sound IMHO.

The album should come out sometime in August and will be called
    "DOG EAT DOG".

Interesting! Both those albums had a good sound, but both are still
very glossy. I think they're very similar to the stuff I think of that
Beau Hill's done. I'm surprised they didn't get someone like Bob Rock
or Mutt Lange for a little more edge while still keeping a commercial
sound. Probably too expensive or not available...

| | From Metal Edge without permission:

Those expecting another taste of Cherry Pie are in for a surprise
from WARRANT. The good-time,sex driven, party vibe of that LP has been
replaced by darker, heavier (In sound and subject) music on the band's
third album Dog Eat Dog. While there are a couple of "sex songs", Jani
Lane characterizes the overall style as more toward Uncle Tom's Cabin
than Cherry Pie. There's no "Heaven", No "Sometimes she cries". The
ballad have more of a "I saw Red" feel . These include "The Bitter
Pill", a haunting song with a surprise operatic section--in
German!--and "Andy Warhol Was Right" about a disturbed, obsessed fan.
IN addition to these, "Hole n the Wall" about voyeurism and "April
2031" about a future wasteland world, show a different side of Warrant
than heretofore explored. "The band has grown, you get a little
older,a little wiser, and it reflects in the music" says Jani. Other
tunes include "Sad Theresa" written in 1885 when Jani was in his old
band. and "Inside Out" which Warrant played live on the last tour.
Produced by Micheal Wagner and recorded at Tampa's Morrisound and mixed
at the Scream in L.A. the album is due out in late July/early August.
Warrant hopes to hit the road at the same time.

said, "Of course he'll have to grow out his hair and polish his nails,
but we're excited to have him with us."

Why would they want someone like him?

    	He'll only drag them down.

I like "Down Boys", it's kind of a catchy pop type tune. However I
heard another of Warrents songs on the radio this weekend and I was NOT
impressed. I didn't catch the name of the song, but I swear it sounded
just like Poison! The standard lame pop-metal ballad song...really
    weak IMO.

| | About the only thing I've seen from these guys that struck me as the
least bit creative was the guitar art of one of the guitarists guitars.

While most guys in the Guitar mags are talking about things like
.008 extra light nickel, this guys guitar advertises something
more on the lines of extra-thin, lubrciated and ribbed.

Yeah, didn't the guys in Warrant get accused of being like the Milli
Vanilli of HM?!? Some studio session guitarist in LA came out of the
closet to tout HE did all the guitar parts/solos for the DRFSR album!

It was with this declaration that I dubbed Warrant the ULTIMATE posuer
    band!!
