    I was at Saturday on a party (you know, Jochen?).
    When they played some Ballads, I heard a song
    from White Lion. I think it was "When the children cry".
    It's a great song, with a good lyric. 
    Is it form 'Pride'?

    "Pride" is a good album if you're in a non-metallic mood.  Vito
    Brata to me is one of the hottest guitar players around.  "When
    The Children Cry" is from "Pride" by the way ...

    I like Pride.  I have not heard White Lion's first lp yet (I even
    forget what its called!)
    
    I wouldn't say they were like Def Lep or Bon Jovi really, more like
    a Van Halen off the 1984 album type sound.

                
                I don't  really like pride, but their first album
                is great!   It's  unbelievable  though.  I've had
                this thing for about  3  years, and I'll throw it
                in,  and people will say,  "Who's  this?    White
                Lion?  Is that a new album?"

    the cildren cry" is one of there best songs). I've two LP's from White
    Lion: Pride and the older one (I don't remember the name, but I think

         Shawn, that track is off of their second album 'Pride',if you
    like that track you'll like the rest of the album. The album is

    I like the song "Wait", and White Lions music in general.  They
    have a good sound for a pop-rock band.  I've been intending to pick

      Just "happened" to run into the drummer of White Lion last Sat.
    night! He was at a bar here in Greenville, S.C. The band was in
    town to open up for the OZ!
         I recognized him from the Pride album! He was a real cool dude!
      He didn't act stuck-up or too good for us low-lifes! We talked
    for about 15 minutes, then seems some other people recognized him.
          He left with some real beauties!!!  Anyway! Most impressed
    with his attitude!  May have to pick up the new album!
    
         As far as the concert went, some friends told me the sound
    wasn't that good! But overall were O.K.!

I just picked up the 'Pride' CD over the weekend (OK, so I'm a little behind 
the times here...). On first listen, it was pretty good. Some interesting 
stuff, and some decent hooks. Nuthin' to die for, but decent.

On the other hand....

I heard their version of "Radar Love" the other day - boy, does it S*CK! The 
drummer for this band should be *shot* for what he does to this song! What a 
waste of recording time and vinyl......

    Golden Earring did an earlier version of "Radar Love".  Good tune

    		guitarist hacked it up.

    I think the best "Radar Love" version would be a mix with the better
    parts of both W.L. and Golden Earring. The original drum part is
    far better, but the cover version has better guitars - but sadly
    the bass isn't loud enough.
    
    BTW, on which LP is "When The Children Cry" ???

    	The video came on this morning while I was getting ready and
    	hearing it made me think, "Wow!  This is an OLD song."  Then
    	I looked and it was Little Fighter!
    
    	I'm kind of disappointed that they couldn't be more original.

    The best song IMO is "Living On The Edge", followed by "Baby Be

         I was very prejudiced against White Lion until I saw them when
    they opened up for Ozzy.  I was surprised!  These guys can rock when
    they want to!  I don't understand why they don't let it come out on
    their albums.  Whenever I hear "Little Fighter", I give it a bit more
    respect.

    Yep, I thought that too.  Looks like White Lion have found the infamous
    "hit song formula".  D*mn shame too, 'cause they have some talented
    folks there that could write some really good pop rock tunes.
    
    I do like the little intro riff that Vito plays on that one.  Cool
    guitar sound.
    
    I haven't heard the entire album yet, so I'll reserve judgement on the
    rest until I do.  I plan on getting it soon, as I liked "Pride" quite a
    lot.

    OK, I listened to "Radar Love" this weekend .... I gotta admit,
    it gets butchered pretty bad.  I think it's the guitar style more
    than the drums that screw it up.  That's the danger in doing a cover,
    you never know how much of your own style to add to it ... Vito

    Actually, Pride wasn't their first release.  They released 'Fight

    White Lion a HM band???  Don't make me laugh, they're a pop-rock
    (kinda) band.  I can appreciate them for that, but I wouldn't call 'em
    metal.  In light of this, the album names are probably ok, since their
    target audience is pretty much 14 year old white females.

     Yes....I have nocited the screw up at the end.

    That pitch shift must be in their master recording.  The video does the
    same thing.  I thought my VCR was messing up when I first heard it!!
    His voice changes pitch as well as the guitar.  Sounds like it happend
    after it was mixed.

    Vito Bratta is, imho, the best guitar player to emerge in the last 5
    years.

    Vito took tapping to a new level .... he's a very soulful player (IMO).
    Strange how anyone who taps is a EVH clone ... I guess anyone who has a

    bother to play fast if it doesn't fit' attitude.

    You guys are selling me short here, it's not just "anyone that does
    tapping is an EVH clone", at least as far as my thinking goes.  It's
    more like "anyone that plays EVH'isms is an EVH clone".  I could site
    you tons of examples of people that tap and sound nothing like VH, like
    Reb Beach, Joe Satriani, Brad Gillis, Steve Vai, Jennifer Batten...
    
    On the other hand, I hear tons of EVH in a lot of Vito's playing.  You
    know like taking that same lick and moving it around the fretboard real
    fast (so part of 'em are out of key sorta) and the way he *uses* his
    tapping.
    
    Didn't say I didn't like it.  Yeah, he probably does it better then VH
    himself (especially lately), so what?  The really funny thing is that I
    like Vito and Eddies playing for the same things, their cool rhythm
    work, which is very different.  I like Vitos melodic leads better then
    his VH style leads.

    gh does have a point.  I mena, White Lion started OFF as a VH clone
    band.  Vito is quick to cite EVH as his main influence!  In fact,
    the reason Vito had Mike Tram pjoin the band in the first place was
    becasue he looked so much like DLR!
    
    So, next time you say Vito doesn't intentionally rip of VH...

    Well, I got the official news on White Lion last night from Pitrelli.
    They are KAPUT!
    
    The Channel show in Boston is one of their last shows...so if you wanna
    see them, go!  They are being dropped from their label, and with two
    members recently leaving for better things, Mike and Vito have decided 
    to call it quits.
    
    Funny how theycan go from the mega-popular PRIDE album 4 years ago to
    this.

    they already played the channel and while there announced that it was
    their last show ever.  they also bitched and moaned that it was half
    mtv's fault because they got no video airplay.
    
    

	I'm on the mailing list for a band called Wiched Witch.  According
to them, they are playing with White Lion at Deringers some time in September
(not sure of the exact date or how many other bands are playing).  This 
mailing went out at the end of Aug. so this may have changed.
