    laser show.

Second on the Deep Purple stuff from Perfect Strangers ("Knocking
at Your Back Door" and others). How about some old Purple, something
like "Sweet Child in Time" for a slow tune, "Highway Star" for a
    faster one.

For something a little wilder, try "Peace Sells..." from Megadeth,
    or "Blackened" for Metallica.

One of my personal favorite all time tunes which might work is "21st
Century Scizoid Man" from King Crimson.

If memory serves me right the band was called The Firm (the first
album's worth a listen). The track you mention comes off the second
album (?) and I can't remember the name of that.

    On another tack,

This depends on who you are playing for. In my experience, a good
bit of boogie never goes amiss. Let's try something like THE live
version of Freebird around which you could wrap one hell of a light
    show.

I'll have a look through the record collection tonight to seek out
other tracks that might work with non-metallites and with a good
    light show.

Good one!
Another good one might be the middle section of the live version of
"Whole Lotta Love", where Jimmy is playing with his Theramin. Or the
live version of "Dazed and Confused", where he used the bow. Both
are pretty spacey....
Now that I think of it, the live version of "The Rain Song" is a pretty,
slow song that would work well also.....

...then after the laser parts over you can come out and drop your

Seriously, I think those would be good tunes for this sort of thing.

How about "Let there be Rock" by AC/DC, or Godzilla by Blue Oyster
Cult. There's also a huge number of songs by Yes which would be
very good for this, but many are long. Speaking of long, the live
version of Dazed and Confused is pretty wild (also one of my favs).
Other good ones would be "Lightning Strikes Again", "Breaking the
Chains", or "Tooth and Nail" by Dokken. If you're looking for classic,
how about "Crosstown Traffic" by Hendrix. Actually as far as strange
graphic images, you might think about some songs by Cream ("Tales
of Brave Ulyses" comes to mind...).

The song you're thinking of is called "Down by the Seaside" from
the Physical Graffiti album. "The Ocean" is a different song, from
the Houses of the Holy album.
While we're at it - how about the really great space-intro to
"In the Light" from Physical Graffiti - very Pink Floydish, without
actually being PF.

| | Wow! Great Ideas metalheads....

You really have my mind on overload thinking of some images to shoot
for. Keep it up and I'm sure that we can put together something
that will blow Lowell into the next century!

I like the ideas of the instrumentals, never gave them much
thought. The non-instrumentals are just as good (if not better
    in some cases.).

The Type of Crowd I want to appeal to is your typical college
crowd. Picture a couple of thousand students all waiting for the
biggest bash weekend ever. The Laser Show is going to be during
the spring carnival that Lowell has every year. My goal is to make
these sad excuses for partiers get so rialed and psyched up that
they they won't come down until the Carni is over. I WANT A RIOT!
I think that metal isn't done justice on campus. I hope to change
that. Pink Floyd although a fantastic imagry really doesn't have
the ballz that I need. (Some does, like "One of these Days...",
so if you want still suggest them, who knows.) I can't use things
too offensive like SoD "Speak English or Die" ( I'd love to, but
I would be lynched by the hundreds of Non-English speaking students.)

I have given it some thought though. I need that Heavy Metal powerful
guitar (like Eruption) to reach the POWER that I want to achieve.
I'm seriously considering EHM also. I might even have the word
"MOSH" appear in Lasers just to see if anyone will take me up on
it. I also want a mix of stuff people will recognize (mostly) and
the best of the stuff people won't (Non-Metalheads that is...)

Keep the ideas coming in.....I'm going to have to start soon on
my list. It will probably be broken up into 4-8, 15-30 second,
pieces. Remember this is to push Metal into the spotlight (Laser
light) for 2 Minutes. I need the best examples.
    Thanx....

    YEAH, Yeah, yeah!!!

That would one make one BiTcHiN' intro to some really fantastic

| | I'm gonna have to listen to Physical Grafitti again to make a final
descision but "In the Light" sounds like the perfect intro. These
ideas are great! I was thinking of doing a 15 second segment on
just screaming (I'll look into the Best Scream note) what do you
think about it. Help me think of a climaxing exit to this.....

I was thinking of a mushroom cloud with Ozzy's ending to "Thank
God For the Bomb". Do you know of any other explosions that would
    suffice....

Songs that have the word "Rock" usually go over big with large
crowds. Also things that would go good with the whole idea of a
laser. Like "Shoot to Thrill" Ac/Dc, "Lighting up the Sky" VH,
and "When the Lightning Strikes" Aerosmith.

Just to give you an idea on what I can incorporate. There will
be a main graphics display for animation and such and there will
probably be lasers shooting over the crowd with a fog machine so
that they will show up better.

You people are the greatest! Thanks for all the great ideas.

| | Yeah I was thinking of a creation and destruction theme to this.

                            Visual Audio

intro Darkness In a deep, ominous voice...
    					      The first line from
    					      Genisis..."In the begining
god said let there be light"
      						(or something like that.)
    					      Then Silence....to be
   						broken by.

intro part 2 Large Starburst The explosion (Sonic Boom)
    					      from PF's "Get your hands
    					      off my Desert"
intro part3 Break up of starburst intro to "In The Light"
		       images of creation.
    		       Slow and Psychadelic.

Then I'll kick into some POWER rock. The images and the songs will
follow an evolutionary cycle. Maybe Godzilla (for dinosaurs) or
a killer instumental. Go through the development of man and finish
it off with the scream of Ac/Dc's "FIRE" leading into OZZY's nuclear
explosion from "Thank God for THe Bomb." Start and end this puppy
with a bang.....(and lots of fuel in the middle....)

So now all you need is fuel for the fire.

    	Lemme think...

| | For VH I was thinking of "Everybody wants some..." That song cranks
but "Aint talking about Love" might fit in easier....

| | I think that it would be tough to do a live band....

It has to be in perfect sync. with the lights and music..

It's an interesting idea though and I would love to do work with
a band and see what comes of it. I couldn't for the one in Lowell,
but maybe in the future. (I have to save my pennies to buy my own
set of equipment. approx. $10,000 with the Argon Laser and the
    computers to run it.)
