Joe Satriani's drummer is Jonathan Mover...a local drummer, used
to be in GTR (Steve Howe's band, not to be confused with a Mod
    w/similar initials!).

My brother actually got to go inside their tour bus.
We got an autograph and a couple of drum sticks-
    He was really cool-

Also talked to the tall bass player with John Butchers band at The

| | A few years ago i ran into Bruce Dickenson , i was at an Iron
Maidin concert and thew back up band was on, while we were
watching the back up band a freind and me spotted Bruce walking
through the audiance i guess he was checking the back up band.
so my friend and me chased him down the hall, he stopped shook
our hands and while we were giving our comments about his band
the bouncers pulled us away from him, didn't even get a chance
to ask for an autograph, better luck next time.

Back in June `85 I ran into Yngwie in Boston, didn't talk with him
much, but I kinda thought he was a A__h___, anyway, I ran into him
again in NYC 5 months later at an audio thing, and got to talk with
    him a bit more

It confirmed he was an A__h___!

| | I took a p_ss, uh, went to the mens room with Steve Tyler and Joe
Perry once. It was back in the early 70's, "Dream On" had just
hit it big and I was roady-ing for one of the backup bands at an
Aerosmith show. I went into the mens room and was, er, standing
shall we say at the middle of three unrinals, and in walks the bad
boys themselves -- one on each side of me at the other two urinals.
They start asking me if the crowd's gonna like 'em etc. I didn't
even think to ask for an autograph.

Farm in Southboro (Remember that ?, I know Joe Minville does...)
Anyway, I used to go down there a lot to visit with my pal, and twice while
I was there Steve Tyler, Joe Perry, and Brad Whitford walked in. Kinda
freaked me out.
Also, I used to go to Spit in Fenway A LOT ! Ben Orr and Ric Okasik (The Cars)
were usually in there, Brad Delp was there once too. I didn't talk to them,
thinking that they probably didn't want drunkin slobs bugging them all night.

dressing room and one of the girls with Aerosmith was a neighbor

You met Mike Monroe? He's a wierd one, huh? They were in Boston
a couple of weeks before Razzle died, and my friend and I met them
and spent a couple days showing them around the city. They were
a bizarre bunch, but a lot of fun. We only saw Mike a few times,
he didn't come out with us at all, they said he had a fear of strange
places. Later, we found out that he was spending all his time "in
the water closet" because he had just started back on heroin. We
brought them all over the place. I think the only conversation
Mike and I had was about hockey. He wanted to go to see the Bruins,
but they were in Montreal or something. he was trying to figure
out how long it would take us to get there, and if we could get
    back before Monty Python.

I have been lucky to be able to meet a lot of "rock star people."
When I was younger, a friend and I spent a lot of time and money
at it. When we went to concerts, we always got a hotel room at
the same place the band was staying, and we were always pretty lucky.
We used to go to every show and concert that came to town, and I
can't even begin to list all the people we managed to meet/hang
out with. Meeting these people loses its novelty fast, though.
They're really not all that great, and all they want is to get
laid. We weren't those kind of girls, and a lot of the time it
worked against us, but a lot of times it worked *for* us, too.

If you want to meet your favorite band, get a room at their hotel.
You can't get too far if you don't have a room key. When things
finally settle down after the show and they are getting ready for
their little after-show parties, you'll be around and get invited.

    Stacie

I met Yngwie's band when they played with Keel
and Aerosmith at Sullivan Stadeum. After the
concert, I, and a bunch of friends jumped the
dividing wall and hung out back stage for a
while. They eventually caught me and threw me
out. I had to hang out in the parking lot and
wait for them, and there was Yngwie's bus. I got
to hang out on the bus with everyone (except Big
Y - he had a limo and had already left). The
Staties came into the parking lot and tried to
throw everybody out, including the band (they
were still loading the equipment onto the truck.
Someone almost bought it too, they had a
forktruck lifting a loading platform about 30
feet in the air to clear the fence coming out of
the stadeum and it fell off and almost caught
some chick, anyway, I digress . . .). The cops
were very rude and grabbed the road managers tags
that were around his neck and called him a
wise*ss. The bass player kept bumming cigarettes
                from me too.

                                    story, is it?

No Dave . . . after the cops started with us,
the road crew screeched up in another bus, jumped
out, and beat the sh*t out of the cops. They
couldn't be stopped. They killed them all, and I
got tagged as an accomplice (sp?) and am now a

             Wow, man...

I met the boys from Guns&Roses after their show at the Orpheum in
Boston. The next day they were hanging out at their tour bus, pretty
hung over and talking about their upcoming tour with Aerosmith.
The lead singer Axl had to be carried onto the bus, he was so messed
up. he refused to talk to any of the fans, and was quite a sad
    sight.

I also met Anthrax and Metalchurch after their show at the Paradise

    of autographs for me.

I met Jim Marshall, the man behind the world famous Marshall amplifier
at an in-store appearance at Daddy's Junky Music in Boston. He
was a real nice guy and he took a picture with me and put his autograph
on it. OOPS! I forgot to mention (my favorites, ha ha), JJ French
and Mark Mendoza of "Twisted Sister" were with him, endorsing his
    amps.

| | What were you wearing? Were you in the bar? We literally bumped
into Mikkey Dee, Pete Black, and Hal [last name?] Pete and Hal are
new. I guess Timmy's girlfriend/wife ran out on him and left him
with their kid, so he quit KD. Suggest to Kingy that he hire this
guy Hal. Hal used to teach guitar in Sweden.

Also got a good scoop on KD. He doesn't do drugs or drink [supposedly],
is TOTALLY into the occult. He and another gentleman are high priests
    in a Satanic Group.

Pete Black was a total <set hidden> though, he got too drunk and
too f***** up. Not cool. It made him look like a useless jerk.

They cancelled KD at the door, but told us if "we were good, the
rest of the band would show up". Sure enough, they all strolled
into the bar and hung out getting, as Mikkey called it, "Super Drunk".
They eventually did go on stage and do some jamming. It was okay,
nothing to write home about. Hal *is* a good bassist. I would like
to see the whole band again before Pete gets messed up.

All in all it was an excellent nite. Didn't get home til quarter
of 4 and blew off Friday. I guess they're playing the Ritz Club
in New York around Halloween, we're supposed to be going to see

Last Saturday nite I had the pleasure of meeting Ian Hunter and
Mick Ronson of the Hunter/Ronson Band. Ian Hunter (Mott the Hoople
fame) is probally best known for the song "All the Young Dudes"
and "All the way from Memphis". Ronson, his guitarist, played for
David Bowie during the Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
    album and tour.
Anyways I caught them at the Channel club in Boston, which doesn't
have a backstage, only the stage door. We got there early so my
friend parked on the side of the tour buses near the stage door.
We talked to the backup band for a while (I don't remember their
name but they said they just got off tour with Dickey Betts of
Allman Bros. fame) before we went into the show.
After the show we hung out at our van between the tour buses puttin'
down a few more brews. Hunter/Ronson left immediately after the
last song and boarded the tour bus to unwind. A small crowd had
gathered outside their bus. After about 15 mins. Mick Ronson stepped
of the bus to chat with us and sign autographs for about ten minuites.
After he stepped back on the bus Ian Hunter stepped out. My friend
got his Mott the Hopple album signed, while I had both Hunter and
Ronson sign my ticket. One girl had them both sign her white shirt
right across the chest. A night to remember.
Anybody else meet any famous rockers?

      Dave

I also met Ian a few years back (about 1983) - he was a real cool guy.
Very quiet and soft-spoken, but very nice.

1972/3 when Thin Lizzy were starting off(Eric Bell was lead guitarist
at the time). I was rushing out of a shop(can't tell you why ;-) and
Phil was walking down the street...*BANG* down I go, I look up and
there is this tall black guy looking down in amazement!!!...I didn't
know exactly who he was at the time and I didn't hang around to
ask either. Lizzy were doing a gig in our town that night...

| | My summer-of-love (that's 81 to me) buddy is in a band now with

    Neal Schon
    Jonathon Caine
    John Waite
    & Ricky Phillips

His name is Deen Castranova and the name of the band is Bad English.
Look for an album in June.

Deen called one night and got my answering machine, on which there was
a message backed up by a Babies tune, so he told John to call up and
    listen to it! Whooopeee!

I met Jay Leno once. My dad's a DJ so he had emcee'd his show in
Portland and we bumped into Jay at the airport. VERY COOL GUY!

Dick Smothers' (of the Smothers Brothers) son is in a band here in the
Bay Area called Kamikaze. Dick Jr. is "supposed" to get a bunch of us
tickets and b-s passes to see his dad's show this month.

So you see, I've actually never REALLY MET any of these people...

they could see everyone in line. And since we were last, we stayed

Where did Deen learn to play drums? I've always
been curious, 'cuase the guy has obviously been
professionally trained (or he's another natural).
I play drums, and he is in my top 5 favorite
drummers. Was he always a metal drummer, or did
he ever play jazz (he uses alot of fusion
sounding licks in some of the WD songs). I'd
LOVE to see this guy live. He's an insane
                doublebassdrum player.

Note 209.46 Bump into anyone famous lately? 46 of 46

                         -< Quite a mix of meetings>> >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to live next to Wayne Cashman, x Bruins captain, and hung
out with his son Scott. What a spoiled s*** he was. Wayne used
to frequent the Barnside (bar in No. Reading, MA) and get into brawls.
They moved to Marlboro or something.

I met Jay Leno in 85' when my friends introduced me . His parents
live next to my friends and when he visited they would kid around
with him. I was riding my ATC and he told me to get a real motorcycle.
We laughed and rapped for awhile. That was before he was real famous.

I went to an autograph signing for Judas Priest in 87' at Narcissus
in Boston and got Glenn Tipton to sign my bootleg cover. He was
very cool but KK Downing seemed jerky. Tipton's a better
guitarist/musician anyway. Those are the only members there.

    Pretty exciting, huh.

          Here's my list.(No order)

    1. All of White Lion - For the most part cool.

    2. All of Stryper - All four were very nice and extremly friendly.

    3. Paul Gilbert - Once at a clinic and once after a Mr. Big show.
Definitly the nicest guy in the world. Got a pick!

    4. Vinnie Moore - Clinic also. Wasn't all that friendly, kind of
                      a d**k.

    5. Gene Simmons - Shook his hand when I was nine.

    6. Mark Kendell - Met him at a Kiss show. Pretty cool.

    7. Brad Delp - Went to his house once. Very nice person(right up
                   there with Gilbert)

    8. Robert Sarzo - Met him same show as Stryper. Nice guy.

    9. Jody Bongiovi - Met her at the Channel. Very cool and cute. Her
                       band was incredable!!! Kicka$$ musicians!!!

    10. Janet Gardner - Met her at hotel. Very shy and quite attractive!!!

Now it's time for the almosts!!!

    1. Richie Sambora - My drummer (at the time) was working for Skid
Row but couldn't get me a pass. Got me a pick
                        though.

    2. David Coverdale - Scammed my way backstage and while in the process
of being kickout got dragged by Dave.

    3. Steve Vai - Went to the hotel that Poison and Roth's band were
staying at. Walked around from 11:30 at night until
5:00 in the morning. Then we found out they were
supposed to leave around 3:00 in the morning. So
we left at 5:00 thinking we missed them. Turns out
they didn't leave until 9:00. I was quite bummed
                   not to mention tired.

That all I can remember so I guess that is it. Mark my words though,
                                           . .
                 I will someday meet Queensryche!!!

When i was walking down the street the other day in Stafford
(England) i bumped into Bob Halford .Nice guy.

When Rainbow did there Down to earth tour .They played at
Bingly Hall in Stafford,I went to the hotel where they were
staying and played a few games of pool with Cozy Powell,He said
if i beat him i could have 2 backstage passes. What an incentive
i went backstage after it was brill. I have drank with rush and
been backstage when they played in Stafford.
Ozzy was born just outside Stafford and when i was a little lad
i used to go swimming in Stafford baths with him. That was before

| 209.70 | TRACII GUNS AND WINGER | CRBOSS::NICOLAZZO |  | Tue May 22 1990 10:31 | 38 |
| |

I met Tracii Guns (of L.A. Guns) at the Channel in Boston and got my
picture taken with him. I also met Winger.

I got to meet Tracii because my sister's boyfriend's band was one of
the 3 opening bands for L.A. Guns. So there I was walking around in
the Channel when Tracii and a roadie walked by and went to play video
games. My sister's boyfriend and I walked over to him, and he tapped
him on the shoulder and said "Hey, she wants to meet ya." And he
pointed to me. Tracii smiled and we stood there and talked for a
while... no one else was there, so I had time to hang around him.
My sister's boyfriend took 3 pictures of us and only one came out,
thank god. The other two, he couldn't get the flash to work. Tracii
had his arm around me waiting for the flash to go off and when Mike,
(sister's beau) said, you'll have to wait, I can't get the flash to
go off, Tracii, squeezed me tighter and said, "That's ok, we don't
mind." What a sweetie. He really was so nice, he talked to me until
they had to go back to the bus to get ready for the show.

I met Winger at the Strawberries in Burlington. It took me and my
friends forever to get there, and we waited for so long in line,
when finally the cop put his arm right in front of me and said,
"From here back, if you came to see the band, you can't get in,
they have to leave in a half hour." So there, I was, standing on
the other side of the door looking in at Winger, waving, with actual
tears in my eyes from being sooooo dissapointed. But the, a roadie
came out and said, "Come here... just you. (He let me in) I'm sorry,
but those are real tears." He brought me over to meet Winger, gave
me a poster, they all signed and guess who I handed my camera to, to
take a picture of me with Kip Winger? That damn cop who had refused
to let me in! Ha! I was psyched!

They were really good. I stayed with the guitarist for a week in New
York. I also saw them in Philidelphia. Their tape will be coming out
Dec. 4 on Atlantic Records boy I can't wait. Has anyone else ever
heard of or seen them. They opened for Tesla on their all accoustic
    show.

| 209.79 | My Dinner with Morse | DREGS::BLICKSTEIN | Mariah Carey's Fiance | Mon Jun 15 1992 13:36 | 29 |
| | I've met Steve Morse, 5-time Guitar Player Magazine "Best Overall
Guitarist" winner on a bunch of occasions.

He went to the same University that I did and while I doubt he ever
remembered my name, back then he always recognized me (probably as
"that guy who is at ALL of our shows") and always said "Hi!".

Steve is about as "down to Earth" as you get. He has this personal
quality that after you talk to him for a few minutes, you typically
forget that he is anyone well known, or that this dude plays guitar
better than anyone else on the planet (according to some).

One thing that has always been kinda funny is that when you get to
talking with him about guitar, he has this tendency to turn things
around on you: that is, you start out asking the questions, and before
you know it, he's asking you the questions.

He just has an insatiable appetite for absorbing knowledge about music.

I allow myself one little ego boost: at a clinic many years ago I told
him that I got some cool sounds popping strings on guitar (sorta like
bass, i.e. you pull the string out so hard that it snaps back against
    the fretboard).

I showed it to him and he said "Hey, now that is cool!" - I've heard
him do it in concert, and possibly in places on an album (not real
sure) so I sorta get a mild kick outta that.

Several times, actually. Back when I worked at CBS, we distributed Chrysalis
Records, so I worked with him then (he played up at the Club Casino at
Hampton Beach). Then I met him again when he played the Centrum (along
with The Cult). No big deal, he's sort of an *ss, and not much personality
to him..... (sorr Carla, but 'tis true)
