| | My son went Saturday nite and felt the concert great....better than
the Who Made Who tour last year. Music and selections were better,
and seemed to be more songs featuring Angus.

Okay. I'm going to give everyone my two cents on the AC/DC show
Friday night at the Centrum in Worcester, MA. Having never had
the opportunity to attend an AC/DC show before, I don't know if
this is how all their shows are done or not, but I found it really
    disappointing.

Now, don't get me wrong. I like Angus just as much as the next
person, but they overdid him. I went to hear AC/DC's songs and
to listen to Brian Johnson - NOT to hear Angus wail on the guitar
for 10 minutes at a time every time you turned around.

And of course, you always get the jerk standing next to you who
has to fight with the security guard because he's drunk to the hilt
and falling off the chair!! (Of course that has nothing to do with
the music, but it's still annoying!)

L.A. Guns opened. Their songs are good on vinyl, I'm sure. But
as far as live? They had a lot of feedback and they didn't know
where they were!!!!!! I can understand if you say you're in the
    wrong town once, but twice!!???

"Hey!! Everyone out there in Boston??? You want to party?!?!?!?"

I felt like holding a sign up and saying "Hey! Sh*thead! You're
    in Worcester!"

I'll give credit where credit is due, they had some terrific props
and such. One including the AC/DC bell rising up out of the stage.
And the Heatseeker missile rising from the stage, also. But I can't
help but say that I was really disappointed.

Two weeks ago, I went to see Poison and DLR. They were twice as
    loud as AC/DC.

If you're an AC/DCaholic, go. If not, you're not really missing
    much.

    ....just my opinion.

| | Sorry Kim, I'm going to have to tell my side!

I went to Hells Bells, Who made Who and friday night to see Heatseeker.
They are gradually getting better. Angus was playing to much not
to mention when he was playing, he drools alot.

The only songs I wish they played but didn't were:

                         Sink the Pink
                         For Those About To Rock
                         Let's Get It Up

I never heard L.A. Guns until Friday night. I'm sure they sound
better on album. If I knew their music, I might of enjoyed it better.
As for the sign, we chucked him the finger to do the trick.

Kim, where were you? I was Section 3 Row C Seats 16 and 15 on the
    floor!

    Powerage is another.

Blow Up Your Video - Heat Seeker is a cut off the album.

I saw a picture disk at a record show this weekend that had a song
called "Snake Eyes", anyone heard of it before?

There are also special edition albums out of "Dirty Deeds..." and
"High Voltage" (I think those are the ones), that have some different
cuts on it. For example, the "Dirty Deeds..." one has "Jailbreak" and
a song called "R.I.P. (Rock in Peace). The "High Voltage" one has a
rendition of Chuck Berry's "School Daze" (that's the way it's spelled
on the album). I've seen them at Strawberrys.

Hi all!! True AC/DC fanatic here. Just a note to mention that
COMET::RECORDS has a lengthy note on AC/DC that I started (with
a lot of flaming involved) numbered 568 I believe. I'll write
a copy of the original note to see if any of you can answer my
    question.

Breifly, I have a copy of a "Touch Too Much" Maxi-Single album
in which the band is pictured playing left-handed or the picture
has been flipped. I have never seen another copy of this album
and am very curious to see if anyone else owns one.

Also, my brother (he's in NY and I'm in CO so it's hard to give
too many details) has an "AC/DC Live Limited Edition" album that
is UNBELIEVIBLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! But again, I haven't seen
anyone else with one and in particular would die to find it on CD!!

    Carl.

Ok, someone had to open up an AC/DC note, right? Well, having been
a fanatical fan since there early days (saw them when they were
a warm-up band for Van Halen!!) I thought I'd be the opener. So
like here's a tough one for you all:

I have a copy of the AC/DC maxi-single "Touch Too Much" (limited
edition, Atlantic Records #ATL20-206). Apparently, this album was
recorded in France during their '79 European Tour and was pressed
in Germany. (French recording # WE-211). Ok, on the front of this
album [cover] is a color shot of the band on stage (with, of course,
Bon Scott!!!) but THEY ARE ALL PLAYING LEFT HANDED!!!! Has anyone
else seen this album or even heard of it? And if so, is the picture
on the front supposed to be like that? I have not seen another
copy of this album nor have I found anyone else with one. HELP!!!!!

    Carl.

(Sheepish grin) ... I feel bad about yelling at
Riff Raff for his love of Angus - I replied to
his glorification of Angus by saying he couldn't
play more than one riff, and that he basically
sucked. But I wasn't completely serious - just
told him I thought EVH was 10x better. But I
apologized, because it really was uncalled for. 8^)

I've seen some pictures that were like that ... I
took some photos out of magazines that were develop-
ed backwards, giving that effect. I don't know wheth-
er or not yours is the only one, but the method isn't
                 one-of-a-kind.

Why do they do this? I never knew.

in Binghamton, New York many, many years ago. It was like the mid
70's sometime. Not sure what the exact date was. But it was definitly
one of the best concerts I've ever seen!! Of course back then both
bands were at what I would concider their prime but I wouldn't even
attempt comparing Angus and Eddie -- both were absolutely mind
blowing!! Talk about a head-banging concert...

| | Thought I would add my two cent about an AC/DC show I saw. I have
only had the oppertunity to see them once. It was the Fly on the
Wall tour and it was about everything I expected to see out of AC/DC.
They played a few cuts off the Fly on the Wall, a lot from Back
in Black, some from Dirty Deeds Done Dirty Cheap, some form Highway
to Hell, and some from For those about to Rock. That was about the
jist of it. I thought it was an awesome show, and I would definitly
see them again if I get the chance. As for Angus Young's guitar
playing that what I liked the best. Plus I don't know where the
man gets all his energy, he bobbed up and down the whole show. Good
band to see if you ever get the chance.

| | In reply to the original question about Malcolm, I am not sure whether
it was his nephew or cousin that had taken over from him but the
reason that he had to leave the Tour was due to a liver complaint
caused by the consumption of too much alcoholic beverage.

I don't now how the tour was in the states with the replacement
but the tour in Britain(England, they never played Scotland) with
    Malcolm was Bril.

Mark, according to the papers around here, it was his nephew on tour.

The show I went to in Worcester, MA was great, as usual. I've seen
them quite a few times and this one was no different quality-wise.
BTW, I heard something a while ago on the radio saying that their next
tour will have a more elaborate stage. I guess they are getting sick
of that other one that they've had for years. They probably liked the bell,
the cannons, the tube behind the drums, and the missile thing, but now
they want a bunch of things in one show.

Thanks for the info about Malcolm, too bad.

Ackey Dackey are preparing to record a new studio album with producer
George Young. They will go to Canada and the album will be out through
Acto later in 1990. Rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, WHO LEFT THE BAND
whilst they were touring, because he had grown tired of the heavy
schedules, will play on the forthcoming album.

So, to start off with let me tell you some news on the "Thunder
From Down Under". AC/DC will NOT be losing thier rythm man Malcom to
any "Wacky Daffy" band. Malcom has had some family matters to be re-
solved. If he seemed worn out from touring, give this some thought.
Would you be able to perform 100% knowing the family needs you there??
IN his time at home, he has been doing his mates (Ackey Dackey)

| | Has anyone heard anything about AC/DC since the last notes? I'm
starting to wonder if this band is a thing of the past! The last time I
saw the band was 1988 in Austin, Tx (seen every tour since Highway To
Hell in "78" when they warmed up for Nugent, before Bon's death). The
Austin show consisted of 10 songs and no encore, it was like they were
in a hurry to "get the h*ll out of Dodge". This was especially
dissappointing considering I paid a scalper $130.00 for two second row
center stage seats. Cinderella warmed up which took some of the pain
    away.

As far as Brian's voice goes, they may have mixed it differently than
they did ten years ago when Back in Black came out. Technology has

frankly, I don't like it much.

You're all right, Brians voice sounds fried. It's terrible. And that
little sequence that plays through the whole song is really annoying.
It might have been cool for the intro, but they should have canned it
after that and let the guitars do the work. As always, they had a
    great guitar tone.

I have been an AC/DC fan since Bon Scott did Highway to Hell back in
the late seventies. I have everything that they ever recorded. I even
paid 20 bucks for Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap when it was an import.

So when I say that the new album sucks. I'm speaking from experiance.
This album is a rehash of the last three albums. Brians voice is truly
dead. I don't know if he smokes crack but if he doesn't - he should
because it would be a good excuse for the way his voice sounds. Angus
and Malcomb wrote all the songs. The subjects of the songs is extremely
lame. "I want a mistress for Christmas" is a perfect example of one of
the all time greatest bands going down the tubes because they can't
think of anything new to write about. It's not funny. It's sad.

AC/DC- A 2-hour set of there most famous hits.. opening nite was
longer and more energetic. The Pyro guy got blown up during
Love/Hate's set on Sat, so they shortened their set by not playing
"For those about to Rock".. The first nite the guns rocked the Centrum

TO BE KIDDING ME!!! I'M AN AC/DC FAN MYSELF, BUT I CAN ACCEPT THE FACT
THAT THIS IS AC/DC, AND THAT THEY ARE GOING TO "SOUND" LIKE AC/DC!!!
AND AS FAR AS THE NEW ALBUM GOES, I THINK IT IS A VAST IMPROVEMENT FOR
THEM, AND IS EXCEPTIONALLY BETTER THAN THEIR LAST ONE. REAL GOOD "RAW"
SOUND. I DON'T THINK THAT A "REAL-METAL" VOICE IS SUPPOSED TO BE

LOUD note at .125, I just could not put enough emphasis on those people
that think that the "new" AC/DC album sucks, which just is'nt true. I think
if you don't like the way Brian sounds, some of us need to be jamming
on Udo and the boys rather than listening to some "REAL" rock-n-roll!!
...AND I CAN THINK OF ALOT OF PIONEERS THAT STARTED THIS METAL-MANIA,
AND AC/DC I WOULD THINK, WOULD BE CLOSE TO THE FRONT OF THAT PACK!!

Since when is Tucson considered "snow country"? You should have seen
the snow across western Colorado and Utah! What a drive... :-(
Back to the topic at hand, I had yet another of my friends tell me that
they thought "Thunderstruck" was a comedy tune with Donald Duck singing
when they heard it the first time. I think old Brian should be
    thinking about stuff like that...

| | I just found out who is opening for AC/DC down south here. Ready?

| | Alright, here's a small review of AC/DC. Much, much better sounding
than Kings X. For all you people out there that think Brian Johnson's
voice is shot. Wrong. His vocals were just as strong as they have ever
been. They open up the show with Thunderstruck. Then Shoot the Thrill,
Back in black. The rest of the songs I name will be in random order. I
did have a major buzz and it's hard to remember somethings. Other songs
they played were Shook me all night long, Razor's Edge, Dirty
Deeds,Blow up your video, Highway to Hell, Hell's Bells, Money Talks,
She's got the jack, a couple others from Razor's Edge that I don't
remember the name of. Angus may be getting on in year but, he can still
play the hel! out of that guitar. One song they didn't play which I
thought they would was Sink the Pink. All in all AC/DC gave a fine
show. Even with my suck @ss seat I was glad I went. One other
disappointment, no funny money falling from the ceiling. A show worth
checking out if you like AC/DC.

| 9.136 | Will the real Riff Raff stand up??!! | WMOIS::MAZURKA | Son of the Dawn | Sun Mar 17 1991 19:30 | 35 |
| | Whats up Metalheads?
I have been out of the circuit for at least a year now. But
I am back. I understand that someone has ripped off my "knick-name"
Riff Raff. Not cool. Check back a few inserts (like back in the 30's)
and you will see that the true Riff Raff is much older than is let on
    to be.
As far as AC/DC's new album goes, I think it has quite what
it takes to be called AC/DC. True, however, the last album was not
real intense, but , if you are a true AC/DC fan, you will cut them
slack and remain as one with thier music. Blow Up Your Video was
on the same level as For Those About To Rock or '74 Jailbreak.
These albums never get much airplay, but I hold them close to my heart
as much as the real popular stuff.
Brian Johnson's voice is raspy, and is not the "model"
sound that the majority wants to hear. But, AC/DC has ALWAYS played
thier music the way they wanted and whoever likes it will listen.
JUst be happy that they are still around. There isn't much legendary
rock left, aside from MOTLEY CRUE and AEROSMITH and the bands that
have long since disbanded, but are kept alive in our souls (the DOORS
    LED ZEPPELIN)
The Razor's Edge is great. Any AC/DC fan will like
whatever they play, even if it was Angus playing with a "Jamm
-inator" out of tune in abroken down V.W. on Rodeo Drive in
the middle of a locus invasion!!!!!!

| | This one's more relevant to the British AC/DC contingent. Anyone
remember the female fan who use to follow the band around and make
cameo appearences at live shows around the time of "Powerage"? She'd
wear a school-girls uniform with suspenders etc and generally cavort
around stage for a while. I seem to remember one particular show where
Angus got a bit carried away and the letters page of "Sounds" got a
a bit of mileage out of this.

Or how about the animosity between AC/DC and Krokus which led to,
this was rumour, Krokus being dropped from the bill of an early
Castle Donnington which AC/DC were headlining. Could've been 1981.

Current fave AC/DC track: "Down Payment Blues".

| 9.202 | Collectors Edition? | DEMING::ZUIDEMA |  | Wed Oct 28 1992 10:05 | 19 |
| | Last night I went to Strawberries in Leominster to pick up
AC/DC's new release. I heard they were coming out with a
collectors edition but when I got to the store there was none to be
found. I asked the girl that worked there and she said they were sold
out and that they were not going to get anymore in.
Fortunately I went into the mall, found and bought the CD version of
the collectors edition...the store I went in had a couple left.

    My question is :

Whats the scoop with these collectors edition?
Are these sold in limited quantities?
Are they gonna be worth money down the road?
If so, should I even open mine up....(Actually I already did because it
has some killer music on it)

quite a good collection imho... the regular disc is a single cd that

Not a great album when compared to "If you Want Blood" but that was to

me......don't know why so many live albums do this ?!!

I've certainly got a life , but after x years of building up a career,
I rediscovered all the quality Vinyl in my cupboard. Seems that now
is a good time to buy the high quality turntable that I couldn't afford
when I was a student, brush off the dust and exercise the loadspeakers.

It's also pretty good fun wandering round the 2nd hand record shops,
diggin out the old 'metal albums , then scurrying home with your "new"
treasure to shock the nice respectable neighbours.

In my view, AC/DC stopped producing any quality stuff after BIB.

| | I sort of disagree with greg in -2 ... AC/DC indeed lost a groove they
had with producer "Mutt" Lange on HTH, BIB, and FTATR ... I sort of
liked the quirky Flick of the Switch and the hook-laiden Fly on the
Wall, but all the albums/tunes after that were real naff (sans
Heatseeker, which is a killer tune).

Their new association with Rick Ruben may prove fruitful ... since
RR did wonders for The Cult on Electric (a _very_ AC/DCish sounding
album, I might add), there may be hope for this band.

I do wish they would get a new singer however -- one that was a clone
in the Bon Scott vein wouldn't be too bad, either.

Yeah, Brian Johnson's voice is toast, you can easily
get that from their last live recording. Remember the video
for "Flick of the Switch"? Now IMO that's a cool video: a
band jammin' in what appeared to be an airport hanger with
a few cameras for some angle shots. Simple stuff, I guess
I'm a fan of the simplistic MTV format of it's prehistoric
era, before all the BS took over. I think Malcolm snaps a
    string in this video...jammin!

I've seen them every time they came through Mass since the
Flick of the Switch tour.....bummmed I miss F.T.A.T.R.
Some say the are all done....old and washed up. Which at this point
might be close to true...but I think they still put on a great show.
Brian's voice is definitely shot, but if you can get by that and
just get into the music and watch Angus go nuts than its all worth while.
Back in Black is still my all time favorite album and if it wasn't
for that, none of us would have discovered Bon Scott which is my
all, all time favorite music.

Saw them back on the Highway To Hell tour at the Glasgow Apollo. That
was a tremendous show !! Bon Scott was outstanding. As good a frontman
as I've ever seen. Def Leppard supported that night. They didn't even
have a record deal at the time but were pretty good if I remember
    correctly.

That was the only time I saw the band with Bon Scott. His stage
presence for a small guy was incredible.

| | Great Show last night. Very energetic, entertaining and of
course, loud!! Angus is still a madman and I loved his American
flag boxers. Good to see Phil Rudd back at the drums. Pretty much the same
routine and not an elaborate stage set up..but decent enough. First time
seeing a concert at the fleet center and from what I could tell...it seems
every seat is good. Security was pretty easy going but yet kept everything
under control. I was able to move up to the 2nd row on the side of the stage
without getting bounced back to my seat....as long as you were not an obnoxious
a-hole (and there were a couple) then security pretty much left you alone.
I missed the opening band and from what I heard they were the Young's nephews
or cousins or something. Did anyone catch them and if so how were they?

I saw them last night in Montreal. Wicked show!! It was the first
time for me at an AC/DC show. I like the way they kept it simple but
knew when to hit you with the props. It was good to see Phil Rudd back
on the drums. The crowd went nuts every time he showed up on the
screens. What did you think about the cannons? Loud or what? It shook
the Forum. Angus is a nut on stage. He makes the whole show. He had
on black AC/CD boxers at this show. Did angus go out into general on
the back of security at your show? I thought that was kinda neat.
I also missed the opening act so I can't help you there. Do know what
    the name was though?
Anyways, I hope they come to Ottawa so I can check 'em out again.

    Thats all for now.

2) Why did Angus wear the schoolboy outfit during gigs?

Well, according to the AC/DC FAQ that I stubled across the other day,
he used to come home from school, grab his guitar, and take off to practice
still wearing his school uniform.
His manager or someone told him he should wear the uniform during performances
and he said "NO way!". But they somehow convinced him that it would make people
remember the band.
