Most of the notes in this conference about WinterPark are pretty old, I
was wondering if anyone could provide an update. I have a trip plan for
the first week of March (2/28-3/8).
1. Any suggestions on skiing, like where to find the good snow, how to avoid
any crowds. Also my wife is a timid intermediate, where would she enjoy
   the most.
2. Tips on dining, especially inexpensive and out of the way type. My wife
maybe interested in nice place a little more upscale as well.
3. Tips on where to go for apres-ski, inexpensive and/or jumping with
activity. A place with cold beer and popcorn near somewhere my wife
   can shop works well too.
Thanks in advance for any info, it will be appreciated.

| | Hi George,

I don't mean to sound negative, but WinterPark/Mary Jane is mainly a
day tripper mountain, in my experience. It's great in that the more
timid or intermediate skiiers can basically ski on all of the trails
to the right of Cranmer (standing at Snoasis looking up the mountain)
and on the face over to the right, while the more aggressive skiiers
can take a trip over to Janeside and have a HELL of a good time on the
bumps. Drunken Frenchman and Outhouse are my favorite, but they are
    definitely EXPERT ONLY!

So people from Denver usually drive up and back in the same day. It's
good in that you don't have to go through the Eisenhower tunnel and
wait in the lines that always form. Therefore, I've never stayed
overnight and can't answer your questions that well. But I've never
seen any really good apres ski there... Sorry!

-Mike (wishing that he'd been skiing there earlier this year instead of
tearing his ACL two days before leaving....)

| | Hi Mike,
Thanks for the update on skiing. I was waiting to see if anyone else had any
comments. I guess I will have to answer my own questions when I get back.
I am sure there are some good eating places and some good apres-ski places
even in an area area that caters to commuters. I believe, all ski towns
   have them.
Hope the knee heals quickly and you get back to skiing soon.
   Thanks
   George Mc
