O.k.  Help Pelkey out here.....

I'm looking for a sloution to a volume control problem..

here's the stint...

I've got a stereo set up, each amp has 2 channels, which wouldn't
be a problem, except that one channel on each has a master volume, 
the other don't...  clean only!  one amp is a 100wat Yamaha G100212
and the other is a Yamaha 50 wat, G50112..

my 'meat-n-potato' axe (Ibanez Mc400) has an on board pre-amp that fattens
things up a little for me, but in some situtations, it's still not quite
enough....  I also use a DSP 128+ and a small 7 band graphic to augment the
parametrics each amp has...  that's about it,, I'm pretty happy
with the sound, but I could use a little more boost on leads....

There's gotta be something I can use on them clean channels to
get more use out of them,,,,


What I'd like to do is find a decent pre-amp or 'what-ever' to use
in the clean channel to crunch it up so I can either use it
for rythm,, or as a lead channel, (depending on how each channel
sounded would determine which one I'd use for leads...)

I don't wanna spend huge dollars, but I figured some where in the 
$150/200 range would be cool...

any ideas ?????

	The RealTube or BlueTube from TubeWorks might do the trick for you. I like the sound of them. Greg

	Thanks Greg,, Never heard of it, (no surprise,,, I don't toy shop that oftenn.) tell me more,,, what is it ?? a stomp box (That'd be okay..) a rack,, (better, but more price usually..)

	They're tube (12AX7) overdrive boxes/preamps. You can get 'em in either rackmount or floor box configuration. The rackmount offers more controls and flexability at a little higher price. I believe either fits into the price range you listed, if I remember correctly. gh

	Ibenez has a pretty good set of really cheap stomp boxes. They are actually plastic but pretty rugged. If you look around you can get oneof the crunch boxes called a tube screamer for around 20 bucks normal proce in daddy's is around 40 bucks. Now they re-issued a tube screamer with the old analog cicuitry in the old metal chassis stomp box and they supposedly really give a nice sound. they should for 140 bucks at daddys. I havent tried that one yet. I'm using the cheap version along with different amp setups ( i have a marchall jcm 900 that really sounds good all by itself but I add boost occasionally so that i can make 4 channels out of 2 (kind of) and since i'm playing a lot lately in the dive cicuit with a noisy little classic rock outfit called Time Capsule I use my Peavy Stereo Chorus 212 amp which is flexible (has 3 built in channels and a ton of effects) along with my Tube screamer (I also have a digitech digital delay and ibenez chorus). i havent put as much into my sound as you have but it still sounds pretty decent. I still am looking for quite a few sounds that i may have to spend more money to get such as a really creamy steve morse type sound and just a plain old eddie van halen super fat brown sound. i can sort of approximate them but I will probably need some more digital stuff or something. I really like the sound of tubes however. anyway good luck and let us know what you come up with. Fred

	Thanks for the discussions,, I've been out of the conf. for a while... Anyway, I tried a compressor, (real cheap one... I think it may have been a Dod or an Ibanez) and that seemed to give me a bit of what I was yearnin for.... so I'll probably pick one up as soon as I see one come across for the right price.... It's not a major issue,, I just need a little bit here and there,, and primarily it's for rehersal,... Our soundman is Johnny on the Spot, so it's not like a completely critical situation for me... thanks again...

	Hey, I think I fixed the problem! It was easy... Oh I checked out all kinds -o- stuff... (Even got fond of the Marshall Super Shred-but I didn't buy one! What I finally came back to was the age old idiom... was the more a 'thang' added, the more it took away from something else. So I pushed back my expectations, and that's when the answer came... What I wound with was an Ibanez Tube Screamer II That offered enough increase in gain from the natural distortion from the amps, so that I could then use the EQ for the 'boot' when I needed it... The compressors I tried just didn't quite get the effect I was gunning for.... Anyway, it seems to have worked great..... I got the crunch I need on rythm with the T-screamer, and the boost I want for leads with the graphic EQ... The setup requires care though to much of one or the other can get ya into trouble (goes without saying.).... but man-a-live, some AWESOME controllable feedback and oddles of boost when I need it! (Tube screamer was 43.00 bucks, new WITH an adpater.. ($38 screamer $5 for adapter... Special run at a local store!) Things were going great, till my old Boss DE-2 delay chocked.... So back to the store,, and well there it was,, Ibanez DL-2 delay..... had to do it.. $69.....
