| I have a brochure on it--if I can remember, I'll dig it out and post
details. Off the top of my head, it's a Les Paulish semi with a solid
center piece (could even be neck through, but I'm not sure), had fancy
inlay on an ebony fretboard, and a really stupid idea, a combo
bridge-tailpiece. I looked at one when they came out and was
underwhelmed. They're certainly rare, but I don't think there's much of
a market for them.

| Route 66 Guitars (Hollywood CA) has one of these listed in their
latest flyer. I think I was going for $950, but Route 66 seems to
always grossly overprice their stuff. Haven't the foggiest what
this guitar is like however

| Thanks for the inputs guys,I`d be well chuffed if Danny finds his
brochure and posts details as he said.
For anyone who is interested,the reason I`m asking is...
back around `79 I bought a Guitar Player book called Rock Guitarists
Vol2,and in an interview with said Jan.A,he mentions this guitar,but
doesn`t elaborate (presumably as the interview was from `75,and the axe
would have been fairly available ).
I think the guitar he is pictured with on the cover of Forcefield
`The Talisman` is this model,it has a wierd tailpiece -like on big
semis- and has what looks like a metal,brass? pickup selector.
Don`t think I`d pay $900 for one,thats a bit extreme,my Starfield
Cabriolet will do nicely!!!
Would still like to hear about the Akkerman though.

| From the "Akkerman by Framus" brochure
The sketch shows a Les Paul style with a Florentine cutaway, f-holes
and the standard Framus headstock shape. Body dimensions aren't given,
but the blurb by Akkerman claims the body is larger than usual. I think
it's similar to an Ibanez George Benson. The tailpiece is the wrap over
(or under) type so hated on early Pauls. The care section recommends
Pledge as the cleaner of choice.

| Just for grins, I called Route 66. They had an ad in the latest
Vintage Guitar listing the Akkermann for $850. It's been sold.
They said it hung around the shop for quite awhile, but as soon
as they did the ad they got several calls on it.
Oh yeah, they said this one had a separate bridge and tailpiece.
Maybe a mod? (they weren't sure)

where the original bridge-tp was.

| Thanks Danny,some interesting info.
I guess the wide fretboard is something to do with his fondness for
playing classical guitars.In fact if I remember,the GP article may have
mentioned this fact,also the `Nashville Sound` pickups suggest an
attempt to emulate Gretsch pickups - another favourite of his.In fact
JA`s trademark black Les Paul had a Gretsch pickup fitted to the neck
position.
8-position selector sounds interesting (bizarre?),probably a
passive tone filter like on a 355 semi,all this AND its a hollow body.
Given all this,its interesting to note that on lp`s of the time he was always
pictured with the Les Paul and - surprisingly - a Strat!
Fascinating!
