I want to get my amp modified so that the effects loop is active on
only one of the channels. That way I can set up effects on one channel,
plain on the other, and switch between them using the channel switching
in the amp. I called Seymour-Duncan sometime back to ask about this
mod, and they said it is possible to do. A local music store just
quoted me $140, which seems pretty steep to me. I can't imagine that
this is a real complicated mod, just rerouting a few wires.
Does anyone know of a good tech in this area (greater Maynard) that
could do this kind of thing for a reasonable price? Alternatively, is
there anyone around with enough electronics experience to help me
figure out how to do it myself? I have the schematics for the amp, and
am handy with a soldering iron. I just don't know enough to be sure I'm
doing the right things, and I don't want to blow up the amp (or
myself).

Sounds like you need to talk to Jay Tashian (sp?) ? He used to
note in here and his address is scattered liberally thruout
the "Tubes, Tubes, Tubes" topic - I know a couple noters in
here have had some work done from Jay, perhaps they'd care to
elaborate?

I would be willing to do it, help you do it, or explain how. I've done
numerous similar (& not so similar) mods over the years. I might want a
copy of the schematic since I have a Seymour & no schematic. You're
right about the quoted price, but these guys have to make a living off
of everything they do. (Like auto mechanics).
I don't know if Jay Tashjian is still around, but his address was
published in another note as:
Jay Tashjian.

At any rate, this proposed mod is not rocket science, so if you show me
a schematic, I can sketch how to do it. In fact this kind of thing can
be easily done without a schematic.
You may consider *adding* an effects loop for one or both channels, or
putting in a switch so the loop can be selected to be either CH1, CH2,
or both. That would be more work, but it's still simple & a little more
flexible.
