| | The Princeton Chorus has two 20 watt solid state amps built in. Not
sure about price (guess: about $300).

Peavey and Crate make similar amps.

| | Are you sure? - my Sunn is 100w rms. but I found the Princeton was LOUD.
Would the two 20w amps make it a 40w amp?

    Thanks for you quick reply.

| | Ive got a Fender Princeton Stereo chorus amp
I think its 2 25 watt amps and cost $400 (new) and $300 used.
Its a great amp for its versatility and sound. Its transistor
so the tube affectionadoes will call it crap regardless of the tone.
but given the price, sound and features, it a Hell of a good amp.

I just saw one Saturday at Hampshire (Boy have I got a deal for YOU)
Music. Didn't have a chance to play it. Can youse guys tell me the
trade offs of going with the Princeton as oppose to a Super 60?
They both seem to go for the same price used, eh?

Is it as simple as saying tube, or no tube? Does the Princeton do
more? Does it slice, dice, grind and peel? No really, tell me
    more 'bout these amps.

       Rick.

Jon Taylor and I have set up just those two amps side by side.
The Princeton Chorus is a nice sounding amp. There's a greater
amount of flexibility in setting tones and the chorus is real
	nice.
The Super has channel switching and reverb, but you can't
control the reverb with the switch. Both channels share an EQ
section and that makes set up tricky. This is exacerbated by
the relative power of the two channels. The distortion channel
can be set up to run MUCH louder than the clean channel and it
sounds best on the loud side. This amp likes extra speakers to
push more air from the clean channel.
Tonally, the Princeton will do fine as long as you don't have to
cut thru a dense mix. Would I trade my Super 60 for Jon's
Princeton? No. I've seen Super 60's pop up at prices as low as
$300. There's one in last week's want ad at that price. Most
often they'd going at $400 there.
Also keep an eye out for the Super 210 and Super 112. Same amp
	with a bit more flexibility.

I recently bought a used Princeton Chorus. It has some hiss
that increases with the amount of reverb. Is this normal?

Also, when the reverb is up, there is a "ping" when the foot
switch is used to switch channels, and when the power is switched on.

    thanks,

     Re - .9
     Dave,
If the Princeton Chorus is a tube amp, the 12AT7A (driver) or the
the 12AX7A ( is the buffer) are probably the cause. New tubes
should cure most of it. There will always be some hiss. 'Course,
if it's a Solid State amp, it's probably the op-amp driver and
     buffer.
