I'm looking for someone to refinish the headstock on my bass.
I have a Fender J-Bass special with a black painted headstock.
I want to have the headstock refinished back to a natural
wood and a new Fender decal applied.
My questions are:
1. Any recommendations on *who* to do this work
2. How much (approx) would this cost?
I'm looking into obtaining a replacement Fender decal. I post
the procedure when I get it figured out.

Hi Tom -
My default suggestion for guitar repair is McDuff's in Shrewsbury.
I've heard there's a place in Cambridge that's good...Rick Calcagni,
you know the one I mean. Can you shed light?
It wasn't painted originally, was it? I think that Fenders with
painted headstocks are rare(r).

Sure... if you're up for the drive, go see Jim Mouradian in Cambridge.
His shop is above Cambridge Music, on Mass Ave in Porter Square.
He does excellent work. In fact, I had him do some cosmetic headstock
work myself (cleverly disguising a Tokai P-bass).

The J-bass Special came with a painted headstock. Frankly,
I *hate* painted headstocks. Always have.
