    In the two larger areas I have shopped (Colorado Springs and Wash DC)
    Les Pauls were abundantly available in good used condition and sold for
    $375 to $600 in local pawn shops and used equipment stores.  I have
    noticed the lack of ES335's available and the premium price that goes
    with the few I've seen....some folks asking over $1000 for clean used
    ES's!!  ACK!
    
    There's no easy clear answer to your question.  I suggest you know what
    the new Gibsons and PRS's are selling for and use that as a guide, even
    tho some folks may want more for an older model for whatever value (vintage,
    etc) it may have in their minds.  Some sellers contend that their
    cherry red 1968 ES335 is worth a fortune because "they don't make 'em
    like they used to"....The LP deluxe is a perfect example...Gibson
    stopped producing the deluxe (mini humbuckers)model in the 70's, sooooo
    is it a "collectors' item"?  If YOU want one bad enough, it might be!
    I have a wine red '76 Deluxe, and is NOT for sale!!

    Another suggestion: It's not as nice and clean as walking into a store
    but you may want to see if there are any classified advertisement
    publications for the area that you will visit. As has been mentioned
    many times, the Boston area has something called the Want Ads that you
    may pick up at a news stand. That's where you'll find the best deals.

    The price on a Precision bass will vary widely depending on year,
    condition, is it stock, etc.
    
    A stock pre-CBS piece in good condition will probably run you at
    least $600 at a dealer.  If it's a particularly desirable piece (older,
    near mint, special color, etc.) the price rises quickly.  P-basses from
    the 70s and later (again, depending on condition) run from $300 on up.

    I'll have to disagree with my right honorable friend, the good Mr.
    Rost.  Even though he refuses to pay more than $300 for a 70's P-bass,
    I never see any that cheap.  More like $500 is the norm.  Japanese
    or Korean models of course are cheaper.  As far as pre-CBS, if you
    see any for $600 buy a dozen.  It's rare to see any pre-CBS P-bass
    for under a grand, and custom colors are out of sight.
    
    60's reverse Firebirds start at around $1000 (bad refin with repaired
    headstock crack) and go from there.  The good model, Firebird V, in
    original finish is going for around $4000.  The later 60's non-reverse
    models are going for considerably less, but who wants one?
    There are some reissue Firebirds from '76 (red-white-blue bird on
    pickguard) but even these normally go for over a grand.  There are
    also recent Firebird re-issues from the last couple of years, usually
    around $500 used.

Anyone have an idea what the resale value of this bass might be?

1984 Ibanez Roadster (model ?), studio use only so is mint.

    Thanks, to all of you - pretty interesting information.....looks like
    everything is much cheaper over there...except that I bought my Fender
    American Standard Strat with case and cord for 730 $ here in Munich -

      Not sure about the otheres, but the DT1-pro is gonna run anywhere
    from $180-225. If you get it for less than $180 you did real good. 
      
      More lights for the rack-from-hell Coop? Gee - I thought I counted
    72 LED's in my rack but that was when I was using the GSP-21, now
    I use the Intellifex (THE high quality digital effects unit of 1991!)

    summer of '89 for a new one with case and cord...the '91's can't be

    List price on a Standard American strat just went from $799 to $850 in
    recent weeks/months... a 40% discount would make one $510 plus whatever
    add-ons (freight, tax, whatever).

    Sascha, are you referring to the mid-sixties strat purchased earlier
    this year?

    no, Ron - I was reffering to my American Standard Strat I bought on
    December 1990. 730$ was a pretty good price then, and they're even more
    expensive now, because they're up to 820$ now (higher $ exchange rate
    now)
    
    The other Strat is a pre-CBS Strat from November 64 and sure is worth a
    bit more than 730$...I guess. At the moment I'm trying to ger
    replacement screws for the pickguard and the pick-ups for it, old and
    rusty they they are. and then I have to find out why the neck pick up
    is not as loud as the other two pu's.
    
    What's a 64 Strat worth in the US? Here they are up to 3000$ - and if
    they are in a perfect (new-ish) condition they sometimes sell for
    7-8000 $. Which I think is ridiculous, because they're not better
    instruments as the new one. In contrary, I prefer to play the American
    standard - stays in tune better, faster neck, more sounds with the TBX
    control, better vibrato etc.

    I hate to tell you this, but it'll probably only sell for about
    $250-$300 tops, even in mint condition.  If there are problems, the
    price comes down even more.  This is a seat-of-the-pants feeling, I
    don't have a dealers "blue book" but you might go to a dealer you trust
    and have them look it up for you.

    It's a 3ch guitar preamp which is especially designed for a rack system
    by Bob Bradshow(sp????). It's the most great preamp I've ever tried. 
    The most MEGA expensive as well.

    Yes there is, atleast the music stores have 'em. When I was selling
    one of my guitars, the salesman brought out the book which had 
    prices for different models/year made and the price range was for 
    excelent, good and fair conditions. This was for vintage 59-60 Gibsons.

    It's a three volume book called "Orions Bluebook".  IT's VERY
    expensive.  Most dealers have 'em and most pawn brokers too.
