Would someone out there please recommend a good music store (Boston or
Southern N.H.) specializing in a wide variety of classical guitars?
Looking forward to your reply ....
Thank you,

The best one I know of is 'The Music Emporium' in Cambridge. They had
the best selection of medium to good quality Classicals in stock when I
was shopping for mine ( I finally bought there).
BTW: The *best* store in the *country*
for high end instruments is 'Guitar Solo' on Clement St. in San
Francisco. They will ship guitars on a trial basis from what I
understand. I've been there several times. They had 40 to 50
classical guitars in stock (up to and including several Ramirez 1a's).
They also stock an incredible assortment of sheet music.

in Jaffery NH there is a store specializing in acoustic instruments.
I should remember the name because their catalogue just arrived the
other day, but i don't. However there are not too many, and my wife
found it without knowing the name, so it could not be too hard. They
did a nice, inexpensive job putting new hair on the bass bow.
In their catalogue, they offer everything from cheap to $5k on up.

I think your talking about Fiddlers Choice. If your were looking for
a violin, banjo or mandolin then you would get a good selection. They
last time I was there, only had about 6 upper grade guitars (mostly
Martins) and I can't remember seeing any classicals. But its still
a fun place to browes.

The Music Emporium is a waste of time if you are looking for classical
instruments. Every time I'm in there and ask, they have none. This
store is a folk guitar and banjo place.
There used to be a lady named Rose Augustine in NYC , whose husband
invented nylon strings, and she used to sell fine and historic
instruments ( Hauser SR, Torres, et al ) but I don't know if she's
still alive, let alone in the trade.
Sherry-Brenner of Chicago sells classical and used to have a good
selection.
Wherever you go, play at least a few intruments. I bought my Ramirez
from Walter Stanul a long time ago, he had a few Ramirez and it was
easy to hear the difference.
I see used Ramirez in the Want Ads sometimes, the last one was 2.5K$,
but it might have been a dog. I have to admit, I didn't like Ramirez
but this one I have now just sounded so much different from the rest
it was clearly radical. So I'm not so sure you would want to buy one
from a private party unless you had owned one in the past for
comparision.
