| Gee, Is Money an easy progression? I could never grab it, so I said

| Money follows a minor I IV V progression. The bass notes are walking
up and down but the rhythm is just straight-on minor chords like
Am Dm Am E Dm Am. On the album, the rhythm is played through a
multi-tapped delay set to repeat in time with the music (not an
easy trick unless you have a real flexible delay and the band is
right-on with the rhythm).
If you want to follow the bass, try playing A C B Bb A over an Am
chord (repeat 16 measures), then D F E Eb D over a Dm chord for
8 measures. Play along with the album until you get the feel of
it. The actual song may be in a differant key, so you might have
to transpose.
I have been waiting for the moderator to jump in and warn us about
copyright infringements, but seriously, it is against DEC policy to
post the actual music as it is copyrighted.

The Floyd is one of my favorites (besides Eric). Would you
be interested in Comfortably Numb? (no wisecracks, please). It's
a nice tune that's fairly easy to play (good for a first time jam)
Bm A G Em Bm... is the beginning part
D A C D ... the other part (my favorite)
then.... I... have become.... etc.

The lead is pretty easy and I'll be happy to post it here in
tab if you want it... am I allowed to do that??? The other thing
about this song, from my novice perspective is.... every dang note
on the neck seems to work behind the rythmn... I'm not sure why
though.... (Buck??? db??? dbii???, any comments here). I've moved
position one minor pentatonic from Bm to A to G to D (following
the progression... and everything works) and I can't seem to find
a bad place for position 2.... like I said ... a very melodic song.
Another favorite jam progression of mine is Clapton's "Double
Trouble" it's a slow 12 bar blues in Cm.... shuffle up to the Cm
and down to Fm
Cm GmF#mFm BfmBmCm
By the time everyone has taken a lead on this one an hour could
have gone by.... please pardon, if this stuff is too elementary...
this is the kinda stuff me and my friends do with our time <grin>.

| Well Steve, I'm not exactly sure what you mean about moving the
position up and down and every note works, etc.
Basically, the song is in B minor (which is relative to D major).
I'd play the blues position in "B" and go nuts....you could also
play your major scales in "D". Tensions are optional.

| I've got the printed sheet music to DSoTM at home, and believe
"Money" changes time signature every other measure...

Mike, here's what I use for the first part (in Bm, I think)
the second part is lower ( I stay right around the 7th fret ), but
like I said before evrything seems to work on stuff in Bm... Makes
me feel like a real pro <grin>..
I assume that if I'm stomping on any copyrights that this will
be deleted... however, I don't think my ear is that good...

I've been working on Bellbottom Blues. The music shows an A5 chord. An Am seems
to fit in well. What is an A5 chord?

| A5 is a "power chord" - it's a A without any thirds (no C#s).
It's extremely "popular" because it can be used in spaces where major
or minor is suggested.
