| | I just put a set on my Tele. Very few stores have them in stock. The
only place I know of that has them is Hamel Music in Chelmsford.
They sell for $48.oo, but are definately worth the money.

My only complaint is that in the advertisment in Guitar Player
they boasted that it was not necessary to "butcher" your headstock
to install these tuners, when in fact you do to a small extent.
The holes drilled through the headstock have to be enlarged, and
a small hole must be drilled into the back of the headstock, for
each tuner, to accomidate a spring pin, which prevents the machine
from spinning. Granted you don't have to drill additional screw holes,
but the alterations required are still a bit more radical than I
had hoped. I always figured I could go back to the original tuners if
I wanted to, but now that I have installed them on my guitar I know
that it would be difficult at best to return to the original tuners.

Sperzel tuners are available in Black, chrome, gold plated, and
I have seen an Ibanez guitar with them installed by the factory,
which had a stainless steel (satin steel) finish to them.

    Sperzel
    7810 Lake Ave
    Cleveland, Ohio 44102

I have heard all kinds of stories about the ownership of the company.
Some people claim they went out of business, others claim they only
sells to major manufacturers. Hamel Music in Chelmsford, Ma. stocks
the full line of Sperzel's including replacement parts as well.

    Good Luck finding them.
