I am in the market for an over-drive pedal. I stopped into Mr.
C's in Marlboro, and took a look at the Arion effects. The guy
said that, of the 3 brands I asked him about, the DOD's were the
noisiest, the Boss' were the quietest, and the Arion's were right
in the middle. I tried the Arion Overdrive, and it sounded nice,
and was pretty quiet. Best of all, he had it for $45, which is
a great price.
What I am asking is, is this a good deal, or will I "get what I
pay for"? Also, any feedback on Arion pedals would be appreciated:
sound, noise, ruggedness, etc.
Thanks,
Adam

A few of my students had Arion effects a while ago when they first
came out. They, also, bought them for their affordable price. I
didn't see that they were very rugged at all. In fact, they all
seemed to break eventually and they all ended up buying BOSS effects
in the end. Damage vaired on the Arion FX like broken knobs, cracked
plastic shells and electronics damage (although how much of this
was because it was being used ny a teenager I don't know). I didn't
think they sounded all that great. If you can afford it you'd probably
be better off going with BOSS or something, as they sound better
in general and will last longer.

I was never impressed by ARION effects, I was attracted by their
price though. I ended up buying Digitech (DOD) and am impressed
with the sound as well as the versatility. I bought the programmable
distortion for 99$. It has two distortions in it, one is a classic
basic distortion, and the other you can vary many different parameters,
such as delay, octaves, low-hi pass filter cutoffs, and desired
frequency to either cut or boost. While playing you can select either
the A (programmble dist.) or B, and the other footswitch engages
the distortion. The nice thing is that it's contained in one pedal.
My reasoning was what the heck, for 40$ more, I'll get a much better
distortion.

Ditto!
I bought two Arion Pedals...Metal Master, and Parametric EQ,
and they both contributed too much noise..for what it's worth!
