    I am trying to write 5 bytes of binary data to a DB and its 
    being written as blanks.
    
    The field in the table is defined as a CHAR(5), and the the
    first byte is a null (0).
    
    Does Oracle consider a char field to be like a C string,
    that is, in string_data_until_a_null format?
    
    Must I use LIST OF BYTE VARYING? (Note: this didnt work for me
    when I tried, but its not really what I need...)
    
    Im running DEC SQL V6.1-0 (Oracle RDB), on an Alpha running
    OpenVMS V6.2.
