If it works like the US, the way you get a motherboard upgrade is to go
to an authorized repair shop and request one.
Motherboard replacements, while possibly expensive, are not that uncommon.
It's standard procedure to replace the motherboard if a machine is broken
and you can't figure out how to fix it.

|  |     Hi,

    re -.1
    I wish it were like the US method. However, dealers in the UK don't
    seem that interested. I phoned several late last year and none were
    interested.

| 4522.3 | Ofg course you could try Commodore themselves... | BRISCO::SYSTEM | Very pooer. Very pooer indeed. | Wed Feb 20 1991 11:25 | 5 |
| | Commodore are now advertising their repair services in the UK magazines -
have you tried them direct? Or are you looking for processor upgrades -
which I'm sure I've seen in Amiga Computing or Format, one or the other...

| 4522.5 | Tried Diamond Computers ? | NRMACS::ULSMB | Stevie the Bee, PMS Development | Fri Feb 22 1991 04:36 | 44 |

    Just found an ad from a new (new to me, anyways) company in the UK,
    called Diamond Computer Systems Ltd. The offers sem to be more along
    the lines of the ads I've seen for PC's in other mags (eg, Computer
    Shopper, etc) in that they offer trade-ins and more add-ons than I've
    seen for some while (but then again, I don't use my A500 for much more
    than playing games, so I don't look too hard for any "serious"
    applications). Anyhow, they're offering things like flicker-fixers,
    SCSI controllers and large(ish) capacity hard-drives. They may do you a
    mother-board upgrade.

    (Please note that I have NOT tried this outlet, and so cannot comment
    on their service, but I'm thinking of trying them out for some
    upgrades).

    They have several places in the UK. Choose the one closest :-
