I've got a question I hope somebody can help me with.
I have a video camera that can produce a signal of 460 lines
resolution (S-VHS). The toaster by spec has a Lum. resolution
>400 lines. The toaster is a composite input. Can I go from
the 4 pin Y/C cable of the camerea to composite input of the
toaster and recieve the 400 + lines resolution the toaster
boasts about? I know the S-VHS signal seperates the Lum. and
Chrom. signals and so I assume they are recombined at the input
of the toaster.
Part 2 of my question: If the answer is yes to the above, do
I connect the composite out of the toaster to the S-Video (4P)
input to my editing VCR to capture the 400 + lines resolution?
And, if this is so then any picture degradation would be the
result of the limited resolution of the toaster and the filtering
of the S-Video input to the VCR... right? or had I better do more
reseach on my information?

As far as I know (never having seen one) the Video Toaster does not
support SVHS. To get from SVHS to the Toaster you will have to convert
to composite video, with some loss of resolution. Similarly, you
will need to convert the composite video output of the Toaster to
SVHS. Stand-alone convertors exist which provide these functions.
Or, you can wait for an SVHS version of the Toaster to be available,
as I am doing. If HDTV comes first, I'll consider switching.

I've got a question that I've been asked several times.
What is the best inexpensive (under $300) genlock and how does the
quality compare to the old A1000 CBM genlock? I know many people
that have switched from 1000's to 2000's and are hoping for a slight
quality improvement in genlocks for about the same price.
